Anderson, SC, a much larger urban center of 100,000+ population is about 15-20 miles away and has a wide range of amenities including restaurants/bars/breweries. Elberton, GA, the "Granite Capital" of GA, is about 20 miles away with its related granite museum. Athens, GA, the home of the University of Georgia, is about an hour away and has many amenities, including the state Botanical Garden.
