I was born & raised in Kyoto. I decided to take a unique path in my teenage years by training myself at a traditional and famous restaurant in Kyoto where I learnt much about top level Japanese Hospitality (Omotenashi) and Kyoto's elegant culture and interesting people. I was influenced by the personal philosophies of many accomplished people like Kabuki actors, Sumo wrestlers, politicians, etc. Hospitality comes quite naturally to me. Also, I have been a tourism professional for 20 years which has allowed me to travel all over the world. To date, I have visited more than 70 countries, which has given me a truly global perspective on life. I have been developing Manimani BnC for almost one year along with my younger brother, Kazunari. He's in his late 30's and is a seasoned and talented designer architect professional who perfectly captured my vision for Manimani. Our design aesthetic is clean, modern and uncluttered. Inspired by Kyoto elegance and enhanced by great works such as handmade books by Matusda Seihon, Japanese artwork, traditional masks and ceramic art works by friends - all who are based in Kyoto..........Toshiyuki Fujiwara, Toshiharu Yoshimura, Fuku Fukumoto. We will continue to develop our unique blend of comfort and design with Manimani as our canvass. My great encounters all over the world, including my life and experiences in Kyoto, gave me the inspiration to make this fine relaxing and cozy space for myself and for people visiting Kyoto to expand their minds and souls. I love music (especially Flamenco), arts, reading, antiques, Kyoto culture and history, book-binding and bonsai arrangements and am always drawn to them as a way of relaxing. I am always looking for the best way to get rid of exhaustion after a long flight and the tension of business travel. I also enjoy aroma therapy, SPA, yoga, gym and massage, etc. All of this comes together in my concept of Manimani. I can offer trip advice not only for Kyoto but also for all over Japan. It would be exciting for me, too, to share the local information so you could come to know the real Kyoto. I am honored to be a Kyoto resident and it is my great joy and privilege to be an ambassador and introduce the world to this amazing city.
