There aren't enough words to properly describe how wonderful this Airbnb & Michael are. From the get go, Michael was an excellent communicator who made my partner & I feel right at home. The Forest Lake House is rustic and cozy, with the perfect ounce of modernism & equipped with all the necessary amenities. The house is located on Lake Ainslie- which was a beautiful sight to wake up to each morning-nearby a grocery store & some great hiking spots! It was just my partner & I staying at the house, but it can comfortably accommodate larger groups too. It's spacious & perfect for evening bonfires, & Michael has canoes you can use to explore the lake! Michael and his wife, Winnie, gave us excellent food and hiking recommendations. The Forest Lake House is a home away from home in an idyllic setting, and Michael & Winnie are lovely people to get to know. My only regret is that we didn't spend more time there, but that's why we'll be returning as soon as we can!

We were impressed by Michael and Winnie’s Forest Lake house as soon as we arrived. They welcomed us in person, and took the time to show us around. The Forest Lake house has been tastefully renovated and modernized but retains its original rustic charm. It has all the conveniences of home and more, including a new washer and dryer. The kitchen is cozy with a beautiful patio door from which you can walk out to a babbling brook running down the wooded hillside to the lake where there is a picnic table and fire pit, and easily accessible for kayaks or paddle boards. The living room is spacious with a large wood stove and ample wood to keep a fire burning for our entire stay. The upstairs bedrooms, 3, with large comfortable beds, were amazing. We chose to stay in the room overlooking the lake. The walk-in shower in the bathroom was wonderful after the chill of the lake. And, we loved the artwork (Michael’s) throughout the house!

This was one of the best travel accommodations I ever experienced! This Forest Lake House is a hidden treasure and at great value. The hosts are exceptional. This place is peaceful, private, spotless and very cozy. Five Stars all the way ***** Staying here seven nights gave me time to properly explore much of Cape Breton’s natural beauty! I plan to return this winter and snowshoe in this private 560 acre forest. Brilliant! Thank you!

The Forest Lake House was spectacular. Michael met us at the road and walked us down to the house. He gave us a quick tour and showed us where to find the wood for the wood stove. Michael's photography, which is for sale for a very reasonable price, is displayed throughout the house. We enjoyed Michael's bread for breakfast in the morning - a thoughtful gift from our host. The kitchen is well stocked with everything required to make meals for the whole family. The three bedrooms are lovely, with beds and bedding that make you feel like you are sleeping in the clouds. We opened our bedroom windows at night and fell asleep to the sound of the brook just outside the house. We did not have the time to explore the property as much as we wanted to as we we there to travel the Cabot trail to see the fall colours, however, we are definitely returning soon to enjoy the property itself.
