So what would you like to do? How about a trip to Mullaghmore, with it's 19th century harbour, award winning fish restaurant, boat trips, fishing, sailing courses and benign, family friendly beach? You could drop into the Pier Head Hotel and Spa for a coffee, bearing in mind Leonard Cohen chose this Atlantic hideaway to stay in during his historic visit to Sligo on 2015. Worth mentioning that this village regularly turns into a Red Bull extreme sport venue when the big surf crashes around the head of Mullagh and the professional surfers gather from all over the world.
Further north, Bundoran offers a real seaside resort feel with everything a funfair seeking family could want, as well as a strong surfer vibe all year round, and a highly rated English Language School.
In the opposite direction, heading away from Donegal, you'll find the elegant town of Sligo set in the magical Yeats country. Both Sligo and Bundoran offer championship golf courses, and great pubs with traditional music. Sligo also features one or two family owned, long standing shops offering the best of Irish artisan and craft work.
Then of course, you can stay right where you are and just soak up the olde worlde charm of Cliffoney. Olde worlde it may be, but old fashioned it is not: 10 mins drive from the apartment brings you to an organic vegetable farm, an organic centre with year round courses in everything earthy, a craft butcher, a local Sunday village market, an award winning restaurant, two fine beaches and a pub. Sounds like you could spend an afternoon around here?
