Relax in the spacious, peaceful and comfortable Victorian West Wing of Fronfraith Hall. The West Wing is attached to Fronfraith Hall but is completely independent/self-contained and guests have full access to the wing for self-catering. This listing is showing as new, but it is re-listed. Our mother Laura, previously ran the Westwing but she is no longer with us. We took down the listing end of 2019. We have taken over two daughters & father. This listing previously had 176 reviews. Rooms have been beautifully restored with original Victorian features. The main living/dining and kitchen area is very spacious. There are two spacious bedrooms with double beds and a bathroom with a walk in shower.
We had the most enjoyable stay here, very relaxed, lovely property for family time. Highly recommended.
A beautiful stay in a very peaceful location - felt like we were the only people around for miles! John was very responsive, approachable and made us feel at home. Everything we needed was there & the kitchen was well equipped. A big plus for us was the grand piano - a real treat!
We had such a lovely, relaxing stay at Fronfraith Hall! It's extremely spacious and comfortable and the gardens are just beautiful. We enjoyed eating dinner outside and then relaxing by the fire in the evening. It's a nice touch that there are games and books in the listing too. We would definitely recommend staying here if you're in the area!
Fortunately the Sat Nav picks this up although the host's detailed instructions are a good back up. Definitely out of the way and in a lovely setting the accommodation has very generous dimensions, particularly the kitchen/sitting room. Bedrooms a good size, allowing for movement and the beds were super comfy. There were all the basics and a welcome bottle of wine. Good value for money and the host was very responsive. Recommended
Fronfraith Hall is situated in the beautiful Welsh Hills, 1.5 miles outside the village pf Abermule. The village sits upon the river Severn and has beautiful canal and hill walks (e.g. to Dolforwyn Castle). There is a local pub where good local and ale is served.
The old market town of Newtown is 5 miles (8 KM) away has all the necessary amenities you need:
- 4x supermarkets: Aldi, Lidl, Tescos & Morrisons
- Local shops
- Several pubs and restaurants
- Library and Museums (Robert Owen and Textile)
- Swimming pool, sauna and gym at Maldwyn leisure centre.
There are good public transport links from here via rail to the Welsh coast or back into England (Medieval Shrewsbury) onto various international airports (Birmingham, Manchester or Liverpool) and further on to London.
Also close by is Medieval Montgomery (5 miles/8 KM) - a beautiful quaint Welsh town steeped in history. The town has a number of old local shops and eateries (Bunners Hardware store- run by the same family for several generations- is a must!). There are several excellent walks close to the town such as:
-the walk to The Monument, with panoramic views
-the shorter walk up to the castle ruin overlooking the town and the ancient battle site of Hendomen
-the long distance pathway of Offa's Dyke is accessible via the grounds of The Lymore Estate (the old Black and White timber frame house is no longer there)
Plenty of parking at Fronfraith Hall. It is recommended to use a car to get around the area as the house is located in a rural spot.
