Relax in a piece of paradise nestled in the mountains of Abruzzo. Close to Sulmona, this stylish, stand alone property with total privacy gives amazing views on the mountains and is 800m from the village of Bugnara. We are well situated for hiking, biking (on the doorstep) skiing and lakes (<40 minutes drive). Beach 50min. We are 100m from 2 bus stops. Trains and longer distance buses run from Sulmona, which is 8km away. Buses and trains go regularly to Rome and Pescara (beach resort). We offer three bedrooms and two bathrooms and a fully equipped dining room, kitchen, lounge, private sun terrace and shaded outdoor dining space. On street parking freely available. The house is decorated in a light, fresh design with splashes of colour. It is also an energy class A house, refurbished to an ecologically high standard. The stairs are steep but one bedroom and bathroom are on the ground floor and so reasonably suited to people with mobility issues. There is one floor upstairs with two bedrooms, one bathroom and the sun terrace. All the rooms are large, light and airy. There is no air conditioning but thick insulated walls and being quite high in the mountains means it is usually very comfortably cool inside the property. Fans and a mobile air conditioning unit are available if needed.

Siamo stati benissimo e non potevamo essere più contenti dell'ospitalità resa con tanto amore e dedizione dalla padrona di casa che ci ha coccolati fin dal nostro arrivo. La casa è arredata con gusto, spaziosa, ricca di ogni accessorio che possa soddisfare qualsiasi esigenza, pulita e idonea a qualsiasi tipologia di ospite. Grazie ancora per esserci stata sempre, per i cornetti, per i consigli, per averci fatto innamorare della pace di un posto così bello immerso nella natura dell'Abruzzo, ci torneremo volentieri!

The house is situated on a quiet street in a tranquil, location very close to the village of Bugnara with scenic views of the mountains. It is a short drive to the main town of Sulmona.
Lake Scanno, Lake Barrea and The Adriatic Sea are all within an hour’s drive. Roccaraso, the biggest ski resort south of the Alps is a 30 minute drive. For skiers, we can help with passes and equipment rental.
Rome is a train or bus ride and very doable for a day trip. Pescara is a large, bustling seaside town on the Adriatic about 50 minutes away.
Cycling and hiking can be done from the front door in all directions.
This is a great place to cycle, walk and hike. Bugnara village is 800m by road from the house ( there are also more cross country scenic routes to get to the village) and the main Bar and pharmacy is a further 600m away in the centre of Bugnara.
The village also boasts a second bar, a small general provisions shop, a post Office, a Pharmacy and a cash point.
Just outside the village is a good family friendly pizzeria and restaurant with its own scenic lake where you can also fish for your supper! In the neighbouring village of Introdacqua there are two more bars and three restaurants. Sulmona has a large number of bars, cafes, bistros and quality restaurants as well as supermarkets, shops and a twice weekly market.
We even boast a 3 star Michelin restaurant in Abruzzo, about 40 minutes drive away.
There are caves, castles, water activities of all sorts, horse riding, quad biking, animal watching, trail hiking, wine tasting, para gliding and skiing all within a 1 hour drive.

Having a car is easiest but there are two sets of buses which pass very close to the door and can take you to Sulmona and neighbouring villages as well as Scanno.
Sulmona is our local town with lots of history. Here, or in nearby Pratola, you can catch trains or buses to Rome, Pescara, Naples. The bus to Rome takes about 1h 40m and a day trip is very feasible. Pescara is 1h on the train.
If you have a car, Roccaraso is an excellent ski resort only 30minutes away along with the many other activities listed earlier all within 1 hours drive.
