The large lounge room contains a TV with all the free to air channels and an additional sofa bed, again with access to the balcony, looking over bustling Darby Street. A fully equipped and generously stocked kitchen allows you to cook at home if you tire of the amazing food just outside your door or if you want a quiet night in. This modern kitchen opens onto the dining area which seats 6 people comfortably – a great spot if you want to prepare your own meals or for a quick breakfast before you start your day! All of this is located in the heart of Darby Street, with every convenience right at your doorstep. You are also just 3 mins to Bar Beach and 5 mins to the uber-popular surf break at Dixon Park Beach or Merewether beach, Surf House and ocean baths. The CBD is a very easy stroll and it is only a 4 minute Uber ride to Honeysuckle. The modern bathroom with large vanity and lots of storage is stocked with shampoo, conditioner and body wash to help you feel right at home and to make your trip a breeze. For longer stays, the property provides the convenience of a European laundry and detergent is also supplied. Enjoy the beautiful Newcastle weather on outdoor lounges on the front veranda, the perfect place for a spot of people watching and a bottle of wine! Important Note: The designated car space is suitable for a small to medium car only - the driveway is fairly narrow. Paid street parking also available for larger cars, however availability can not be guaranteed.
Matt was a great host and very responsive, the noise description on the listing is VERY accurate! I’d say the main issue we had was it being insanely hot and the AC wasn’t working for us. The price is great for the location but it seems expensive for the quality of peace and some outdated parts of the apartment. Overall it would be great for a group of friends during the cooler months and so close to everything!
A very convenient and centrally located unit, within the hub and activity of Darby Street. On the first night there was quite a bit of loud music and banter from the club across the road, however owner had been clear, open and upfront about this when booking (with option of refund and cancellation if wanted). As a family, we could access all local attractions easily and had a vast array of eating options within walking distance! Would recommend :)
The accommodation was spacious and clean. Our car didn’t fit down the driveway, which was okay but inconvenient as we have kids and several bags. It would’ve all been sufficient; however when we got him from dinner the noise was almost unbearable. Bingo, dancing on the bar and deafening music until midnight. The morning began at 445am with screaming and yelling from the bin guys. Not the best start to our seven hour commute home!
Getting Around Newcastle:
Trains run regularly from Newcastle Interchange, connecting to the suburbs. Use either the Hunter Line or Newcastle and Central Coast Line.
The light rail system connects the CBD, running from Newcastle Interchange to Newcastle East. The 2.7km line has stops at locations such as Civic Theatre/City Hall and University of Newcastle City Campus, while the final stop on the line is just a few moments’ walk from the iconic Newcastle Beach and Ocean Baths.
Buses run regularly around the city centre and connect with the suburbs and key locations including University of Newcastle, McDonald Jones Stadium and John Hunter Hospital, as well as shopping centres and parks.
From Queens Wharf you can catch the ferry to Stockton and explore the beachside suburb.
Newcastle is a very walkable city, with a range of scenic walking tracks in the city centre and suburbs of Newcastle. Some of the more popular walks include Bathers Way, stretching along the coastline from Newcastle Harbour to Merewether Beach.
Newcastle is a great city to explore by bike, with a number of leisurely cycle routes to enjoy.
