This lodge was merely a convenient stay as we had a set itinerary; however there were some points that seemed off/misleading for us: 1. No communication from host before or after check-in until I searched online for the lodge info and called the owner because I had not heard from anyone over the duration of the booking until check-in day 2. No option for breakfast or dinner (found out after I called and asked) 3. No working staff at lodge- which is worrying in the case of an emergency given remoteness 4. No toiletries in room or even available for purchase 5. Sauna/jacuzzi were out of service 6. No wifi network detected on our phones or laptops 7. Did not spot a washer/dryer in the facilities Our room was very small and clean but I would not rate this as a typical Airbnb experience- especially for the rate per night-as we basically received no hospitality other than a post-it on our door with our name.

We enjoyed staying at this lodge and appreciated the cleanliness, jacuzzi, and sauna. However communication regarding check-in could have been much clearer. We never received an address for the lodge, and didn’t get a response when we messaged to ask. When we arrived, there was a note on the door saying our room would be labeled with our name which was not the case. It was unclear where to go or what to do and the only person we found on-site seemed confused and very annoyed by us. Note that the listing of washer and dryer under amenities is misleading—there is not a washer and dryer available for guests; we had to convince a staff member to let us use the resort’s washer and dryer when we told him it’s part of the reason we booked the place. We appreciate that he let us wash our clothes but if it’s advertised on your listing it shouldn’t be a question. It’s a nice lodge but for the price we were somewhat disappointed and should not have felt like a burden to the staff members.

Comfortable rooms with ensuite bath, slightly off the beaten track, which we appreciated. Cleanliness was top-notch. We were there early in the season so no breakfast service, but we were able to use the fridge for food we brought with us. From reading through the reviews we were under the impression that we could use the grill, but that was not the case. There is a good restaurant at the hotel in Breiðdalsvík, though, which is about a 15-minute drive away. It was lovely to be able to use the sauna. The location is gorgeous, in a wide valley, with splendid views. All in all, excellent value. Recommend.

Nice rooms and delicious breakfast but location is difficult to find and it’s quite far out of town so you would need a car.
