Many residents of Alaska choose to live full time in a dry cabin, a cabin without running water. Our outhouse is comfortable and clean. Purified water is provided for hand washing and cooking. Grey water plumbing is built into the cabin. During the summer months, usually June through August, you can enjoy a hot, outdoor shower. When temperatures drop to freezing, the water system is disconnected to the shower so the internal components and water system don't freeze. Please note that at times during the year the outhouse and shower house are shared between two or three cabins. Hot water is on demand and plentiful, no chance of running out!
Two wheel drive vehicles can reach the cabin during the summer, however, all wheel drive or 4x4 is highly recommended in the winter. Roads are kept clear of snow, however, there are a few steep hills. Stampede Road is a paved road. The final 1.7 miles of your journey is on a well maintained gravel road.
