If being in the heart of the action come Pony Penning Day is on your wish list, you're in luck. The horses parade right past our cottage. Or, if memories of the world famous book, "Misty of Chingoteague," inspire you, walk around the corner to her pasture and Beebe Ranch (appointments required). As for the house itself, The Saltwater Cowgirls have lovingly restored and updated this classic 1950's waterman’s cottage with an eye for combining original charm, like the southern yellow pine floors and barn wood beams, with updated comforts, including central HVAC, new windows, new Washer/Dryer, and new kitchen appliances. The attic underwent a major re-haul to create a kids play loft and bedroom. The downstairs bedrooms have comfy Queen sized beds, soft linens and ample storage. We call one bedroom - "The Palm Room" - a nod to the murals which were painted by the mother of a previous owners. (You'll notice palms and Hawaiian accents throughout the house. It's because Maui was once home; and remains another island dear to our hearts.) Nearly every guest comments the kitchen is "fully-stocked". As cooks ourselves, we want you to enjoy the heart of our home. Some of the kitchen gadgets you'll find include: a Vitamix for morning smoothies, a new Oxo burr coffee grinder and coffee maker, Bodum French Press, a cache of spices, large coffee mugs, wine glasses, Caphalon skillets, serving dishes, and oyster knifes. Connected to the kitchen is the sunroom - a guest favorite. It's a perfect hang out for morning coffee, mid day lounging or night time entertaining. There is a small mini fridge to help handle your 6 pack overflow. A table next to the large sunroom windows doubles as a desk overlooking the marsh, should you need to do any computer work. A new Wolf deck connects the sunroom to the fenced yard. Your pooches can romp while you get ready for your daily adventure to the beach or town. A six seater dining table with 9 foot umbrella makes outdoor dining easy. Pick up some fish down the street at Ricky’s Seafood and fire up the Weber grill. In the warmer months, enjoy the outdoor shower with big sky views. Then when the sun goes down, gather around the fire pit near the creek. Imagine yourself, favorite beverage in hand, in an Adirondack chair taking in amazing sunsets and dark sky star gazing by a glowing fire. It doesn't get much better. The front of the house offers easy 3 car parking and a foot washing station for cleaning sandy tootsies or paws. The Saltwater Cowgirls' Cottage has Wifi, Roku TV and Sonos for your entertainment needs. We provide bed linens, towels and beach towels. We're on a quiet street, surrounded by bird habitat, a short drive to the National Wildlife Preserve and we welcome all. We hope you catch a glimpse of an Eagle, Osprey or Great Blue Heron overhead. Listen closely for the owls at night, the Canada geese and Ibis in the morning and the occasional rocket launch from NASA's facility nearby.
