A modern one bedroom, pet welcoming, lakeside retreat on the west arm of Shawnigan Lake. Large deck off the kitchen with expansive lake views, outdoor dining and lounging by the fire table; a large dock for sunbathing, swimming, fishing or whatever you fancy; kayaks and paddle boards available for use; and the Cowichan Valley/TransCanada Trail across the street for walking, morning runs, or biking. Easy parking too. We moved to the forest in 2023 - very close by! This Airbnb listing is for the main floor of a larger house we have owned since 2015; specifically, the floor where all the action is (kitchen, main deck). There is one bedroom with a king size bed. The upper floors of the house are not lived in presently so you will have the property to yourselves. Lake life is special. The forest is pretty cool too. :-)

Great lake house. Really enjoyed our stay. Kitchen is very well stocked. We cooked almost all meals at the house. Bed is comfy. Perfect dock and Muskoka chairs. Loved the access to the Trans-Canada trail across the street. We walked to the Kinsol Trestle and strolled the other direction as well. Ask about the front door and deck door locks, if you do rent. They are not intuitive! Still 5 stars! We would certainly return in the future.
What a beautiful area and quiet Airbnb! Perfect for the weekend to get away and explore the area. Sara communicated well and was a pleasure to be our host.
The perfect place to relax. Cozy and comfortable. The kitchen is inviting to do all sorts of cooking. The views and the patio are amazing. Definitely recommend and hopefully will repeat. There is a lot of thoughts and passion put in this place.
Our stay at Sara’s Airbnb was very peaceful and relaxing. It was rainy and cool, but cozying up with a cup of tea and listening to the rain fall on the lake was so wonderful. She clearly has put a lot of care and thought into her place. The view and the large deck were lovely. We greatly appreciated that it was a dog friendly space and our dogs loved lounging on the deck. The kitchen was fully equipped and stunning, the rain shower was lovely and the bed was so comfortable! I highly recommend this Airbnb and will happily return in the summer to enjoy some kayaking, barbecuing and swimming. Sara had excellent communication and check-in and check-out were a breeze. Thank you, Sara, for the relaxing stay!
We had a lovely stay. The house was beautiful and had everything you need and more. Lake front with all the equipment you need for a great little get away. Would definitely stay again when it's warmer and definitely recommend!

Shawnigan Lake is a lake community in the Cowichan Valley, less than an hour's drive from Victoria and about an hour from Nanaimo. It is home to the renowned Shawnigan Lake School and a summer dry season that almost always comes with long sunny days and perfect deck and dockside conditions. We're a kayak paddle from the Lakehouse Restaurant, the Cowichan Valley/TransCanada trail runs through our property, and the Cowichan Valley is home to many great local wineries and beautiful vistas. We feel very blessed to call this community home.
You’ll need a car to get around if you plan to explore the area. Electric bikes are also good! Parking at our place is easy - the driveway has lots of room.

I live in Shawnigan Lake with my husband, Dale. We now spend most of our time at our fully off grid home nestled in a 41 acre forest bordering the Koksilah River. Here, we have a very private rustic cabin that we love to share with fellow nature lovers. We bought our lake house in 2015 and have decided, at least for now, to keep this special spot and share it with those who want to enjoy classic lake life. Both are a blessing!
