Original Airbnb: its no Taj Mahal: a spare space with separate basic shower & kitchenette, including fridge and electric plug in hotplate. Humble, it is about having a simple & fun time in Barwon Heads without spending a fortune. Shops around the corner and estuary beach at the end of the road! Its essentially a one bedroom "bungalow" in seaside town of Barwon Heads Victoria. Located in the centre of town 400m to river beach and 1km to the surf beach! Humble spare room with outside access to its own shower, toilet and bit of kitchenette shared with house laundry on occasion. Its no Taj Mahal, but a really simple affordable space in a pricey but beautiful area. Having traveled a bit myself, and noticing the lack of hostels and affordable holiday accommodation in these areas, I thought it time to share the little - and VERY humble- escape space in the back yard. While living elsewhere, the house was rented, but I always had the benefit of using this when I needed a bed or respite surfing time . Now I live in the house, and its great to offer the type of accommodation I would have liked while traveling. Friends and friends of friends have also often enjoyed a little independence. The room is quite spacious, ideally suited for singles, or couples with or without a child. However, it also sleeps up to 4 at a squeeze. There is a separate - (you go outside and walk a couple of metres ) shower, toilet and laundry/ kitchenette, sometimes shared with my office space during the week. Looks out to the garden where you are welcome to join in reaping the small benefits of the veggie patch. There is access to wifi and off street parking in the driveway - though most of us park in the street, and it is all very relaxed. There are push bikes to borrow so you can nip along to shops or enjoy a ride along the beach. Bedlinen and spare towels provided, and basic condiments kitted out in the kitchenette, including fridge plug in hotplate, mini -oven. It would suit people who want a weekend escape or travellers on the way to the Great Ocean Road or surfing the coast. Barwon Heads is a small town (well a few thousand people now) 25 minutes from Geelong. Its greatest attraction is the surf beach, but many also enjoy access to Bellarine Penninsula wineries and wetlands, or just wandering the town, with cafes and restaurants, bakery and supermarket to meet all your eating and dining requirements. Pretty friendly place with a few 'characters' and good neighbours who will keep an eye out for you and help you enjoy the stay as much as they do for me!
