We love to stay in a place with personality and style - and this place has it all - it’s a wonderful compound with a marvelous informal garden, very private bedrooms, attractive furnishings, and a comfortable common area too. Highly recommended!
Overall a really special place! Unique, decorated with good furniture and vintage touches, no skimping on the comforts (good coffee maker, AC, etc.), absolutely chock full of charm and character. I’d call the style shack-chic? It’s an unusual property with a small main craftsman house plus two extra structures that act as separate bedrooms. One is the “Artists Studio”, a large high-ceilinged space with its own bathroom; it’s a little noisy as it’s just off the street, but we weren’t particularly bothered. The other is a small shack with a queen bed, no bathroom of its own, and no AC that I could see. All arranged around a somewhat ramshackle inner courtyard/ garden with a dining table. There were a couple of maintenance issues - a shower handle that didn’t work, loose bricks in the patio, etc. that could have been improved - plus we found the place difficult to find. Generally, however, a unique and wonderful place and highly recommended, esp. if they fix those small things.
Really great craftsman home. Nice backyard. Extremely clean. Comfortable beds. Walking distance to restaurants and bars of Echo Park. Would definitely recommend.
Our neighborhood is a tapestry of the best that East Los Angeles has to offer: diverse cultures and cuisines, cinematic history, and bohemian artistry. You will be walking distance to the famous public stairways as well as many popular murals and public art works. Our neighborhood has been the backdrop of many legendary films, and you will likely recognize many locations that are just blocks from the house (or across the street as in the case of Bob's Food Market!). There are many great restaurants, local coffee shops, and independent bookstores, records stores and boutiques that are a short stroll from our home. If you want to catch an indie rock show, the Echoplex is just a 20 minutes walk or 5 minutes drive. We have several local farmer's markets nearby as well. We are a 20 minute or so walk to Chinatown, Echo Park, and Dodger Stadium. Sunset Junction and Griffith Observatory are 10 mins away by car. You will love experiencing the rich crossroads of life that East LA has to offer!
We are walking distance to many great restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and local boutiques. You can certainly enjoy LA From our home on foot or by using Uber/Lyft if you'll mostly be nearby. It is usually recommended to have a car when visiting Los Angeles, though, and we do have on-site parking for one vehicle as well as street parking if you have additional cars.
