The apartment is located in Turku´s neighborhood Nummi (also known as Nummenmäki, Nummenpakka, Pakka), which is mainly a residential area of ​​workers born and developed in the late 19th century. The general appearance of Old Hämeentie, which runs through Nummenpakka, has mainly preserved the building stock created before the wars. Old Hämeentie has had busy traffic in its time, when, in addition to tram number 2, horse drawn carriages and furmans, i.e. trucks, have passed along the road.
At the beginning of the 20th century, from the windows of the apartment, you could curiously observe the atmosphere of Ojakonnantori (milk corner), when nearby farms came to sell milk and root vegetables to the residents of the area. Oh, If only the walls could talk.
The apartment is located at the beginning of Vanha Hämeentie, almost opposite the new Majakka hospital. Café Pakka is nearby, and pizzerias for many different tastes. On the other side of Hämeentie, you can also find a pharmacy and an R-kioski. There is a park at the beginning of Old Hämeentie, where the residents of the area have erected a statue of so called Cat-Kallu (d.1945) who lived in the area. According to the story, he didn't talk much. He just quietly wandered along Nummenpakka with a jug of milk in his hand and a sack on his shoulder. He was looking for milk in the empty milk jugs for himself and his cats. Cat-Kallu put discarded foodstuffs and scrap treasures from landfills in his sack. The bus stop from the city to the apartment is right next to the Cat-Kallu park, so Cat-Kallu will certainly become familiar to the guests.
The grocery store Supermarket Nummenpakka (Hakakatu 16) is about a 10-minute walk away. Along the way to the store you can find e.g. two flea markets (Laiskan Kirppis and Hassinen). The Onnenpaikka wellness center can also be found just along the shopping route. It's worth stopping by if you're interested in massage, sound bowl therapy, floating and other delights. Onnenpaikka building is a former public sauna completed in 1947. Nowadays, the sauna only works on a subscription basis.
The apartment is located at an interesting intersection. In one direction (20 min walk to the Cathedral) the heart and services of the inner city, on the other side the dirt roads and diverse buildings of the old wooden house milieu. The ancient cultural landscape of Aurajoki is also nearby. Halistenkoski is about a 20-minute walk away, from there you can immerse yourself in a completely different Turku (see The Aura River Pilgrimages). You can also take the Kurala village hill of the open-air museum as an excursion destination, which is located at the very end of Old Hämeentie (passage Jaanintie 45). Kurala Kylämäki is an authentic 1950s country village with four farms. The settlement of Kurala Kylämäki has been traced back to the Iron Age.

There are very frequent buses to the city center along Hämeentie. Those arriving with their own car can park their car freely in front of any electricity pole in the yard.
