This house is our home. We call it The Abode. It is one half of a curiously shaped duplex. The other half is an Airbnb we designed and host full time. When we travel we rent out the Abode for you to enjoy! Designing the space has been much different than designing our other airbnbs. Those we design quickly and purposefully. This space was designed slowly over the last 3 years and is still changing. When you first enter the house you'll see the 1st living room. This space gets beautiful direct sunlight in the morning, but not so much the rest of the day. So we wanted everything in here to feel very light and bright. The couch, our custom designed Dream Sofa, is made of 2 twin beds with low frames and off-white linen sheets. This makes up 2 of the sleeping areas. If you're bringing a dog, this room is where you'll find the fun dog bed shaped like a gingko leaf! The TV is also found here and includes Netflix, Disney+, and Apple TV (Ted Lasso!) From the living room you can see the 3 bedrooms. Closest to the front door is the master bedroom. This room is large and bright. It has its own little bathroom! The king size bed is from Helix Sleep and is ultra luxe comfortable. For clothing storage we have a dresser beside the bed. You'll also notice a closet with a lock on it. Don't be alarmed we haven't hidden anything strange in the closet! Because we live here, we have as you would imagine... stuff. The process of moving every personal item to our basement is too much. So in some of the spots where we have kept our things, you'll find it locked, but you'll also find that we have thoughtfully created a solution for you, like the dresser. The next bedroom has a Casper queen bed and also a desk. The closet in this room is completely open for you to use! Next to the bed you'll find a fun piece of art by Mike Wilcox. We have a lot of his pieces throughout the house. Too many? This print we lovingly refer to as The Bush. Above the desk I've left some books that I flip though often. Mostly design books and Tim Ferriss. Feel free to take a look! The final bedroom is the most fun. It's our sons bedroom, as you may notice from the pictures. To adjust this room so it wasn't strictly a kids room was impossible, so we tried to style it for a kid (or kids) of any age. It has a cool loft bed, plenty of storage, a chest of toys, Legos, a leopard rug (wait is it a cheetah?) and an absolutely massive mirror. We don't know how the mirror got into this room, but our son loves it and so it stays. It actually helps the room feel much bigger and brighter. *Note: the top bed has a weight limit of 175lbs Just outside of this bedroom is the main bathroom. It has shampoo, conditioner, and body wash just for you. The tub is deep enough to enjoy a nice bath. You'll notice another Mike Wilcox print in here of a woman pouring water over her lover to wash off all the blood from battle. That could be you and your spouse! Outside of the bathroom and in the center of the house you'll find the kitchen. Not huge but well designed, it comes with anything you could need to cook meals. For coffee we have a Nespresso with pods. The kitchen used to have all of these pendants hanging everywhere that would get in your face and make the space feel smaller. We took them out and put in surface mount lights for a more open feel. We also removed some upper cabinets and put a thin white shelf straight across the window. We have a number of cookbooks here so feel free to take a look! Through the kitchen is the pantry/ laundry room. If you'd like to use anything in the pantry, feel free. The washer and dryer are in this space and your towels will be stored just above them. The door next to the washer/dryer leads to a mudroom that is used by the airbnb guests next door. There is a frosted window next to this door. It is directly above the next door guests' hot tub, so please keep it closed. *Note: Through some of the windows in our house you'll see into the courtyard. It's a beautiful space with wood slats on the walls, vines, a hot tub, an outdoor table etc. This is a private area only for the guests next door I'm afraid. BUT don't worry! We've created a comparable, if not better outdoor space just for you. Past the kitchen is the dining room/ second living room. This space is big and fun. There are a bunch of cabinets filled with books and games, a disco ball, custom dining table made by us, lounge couch, and a big piece of driftwood from the beach! There is also a sliding door that leads to the backyard. Ah, the backyard... We've been building, growing, and creating this space for quite a while. It isn't huge and it isn't tiny, so its been tricky to design. But we think you'll enjoy it. Walk straight out the door and you'll see the sauna and cold plunge in front of you and the dining table to your right. The sauna is a "6 person" but only if you're ok sitting shoulder to shoulder with other sweaty people. We'd say its a comfortable 4 person, spacious 2 person, and luxurious 1 person sauna. Instructions for using it are in our guidebook. The cold plunge is a simple steel stock tank, but it is deceptively roomy. (we'll leave this filled with clean water, but you'll need to buy your own ice if you like it super cold). The dining table was also built by us, but it was an early build so no judgements! Out here you'll also find some comfortable lounge furniture, a kids "tree fort" (there's no tree), a clothesline, and lots of flowers, trees, and shrubs we've planted over the years. Into the garage, the right side is where your e-bikes are stored. They are RadRunners. They're totally cool and super fun to ride. Instructions for how to use them and charge them (if needed) can be found in our online guidebook that we'll send directly to you in the message thread on airbnb. At the end of our street is the Burlington Greenway. It's a paved rec path that can take you north to several beaches or south to... several beaches. The closest beach is a 1 min bike ride north. 5 min walk. Taking the path south for 15 mins will bring you right downtown to all of Burlington's finest establishments!
