Welcome to Caunes-Minervois, a charming and historic village nestled at the foot of Montagne Noire. The village offers a fabulous blend of culture, nature, and relaxation. The narrow streets of Caunes Minervois are perfect for strolling. There are lovely restaurants, cafes and galleries to visit. All basic services are available in walking distance: just few hundred meters to bakery, grocery, post, pharmacie and regular food markets. The village is well served by several daily bus lines to neighbouring villages and to Carcassonne.
The village is steeped in history and culture, with a variety of historical sites and monuments to explore, including the 12th-century Abbey of Caunes and the marble quarries that have produced famous red marble for centuries.
For those looking for a hiking options in the surrounding mountains, there are many trails starting from Caunes to the beautiful Montagne Noire. The region is also ideal for cycling passing the wineries and villages and close to Canal du Midi.
The nearby towns and villages rich in history are also exciting to explore. One of the main attractions of Minervois region are the renowned vineyards, where you can sample wines and take a tour of the vineyards and wineries.
There are many swimming options at summer time in the region. Neighbouring village Peyriac-Minervois has nice outdoor and indoor swimming pools, Bains de Minerve, 5 km away. Three lakes are a short drive away: Lac de Jouarres (17km near Homps), beautiful mountain lake Lac de Pradelles-Cabardès (23km) and Lac de la Cavayère (27km, close to Carcassonne). Some of the the best beaches of the Mediterranean, e.g. Gruissan and Leucate, can be found within a 50-minute drive.
In addition, the nearby towns Carcassonne, Narbonne, and Beziers are popular tourist destinations and offer a wealth of additional activities and attractions.

The nearest airports are in Carcassonne (20km), Beziers (70km) and Toulouse (125km). Regular trains stop in Carcassonne (20km). Caunes-Minervois can be accessed by bus 4 times daily from Carcassonne. The bus stop is just 100 meters from the house. The bus runs also between the neighbouring villages. Two bicycles are available for rent at the house to explore the nearby villages. However, a car is the most convenient way to discover the region. There are almost always free parking spaces available on the street in front of the house. If not, 100 meters away is the municipality's common open-air parking lot, where there is always room.
