One of the most private and peaceful locations within the North York Moors yet within 5 miles of the picturesque village of Great Ayton .
Take a walk into the pretty unspoilt village of Ingleby Greenhow ( 2 miles) and enjoy some stunning scenery on the way. Its friendly local pub, renowned for good food and drink, is well worth a visit. The village is surrounded by the rugged Cleveland Hills and only a few minutes walk from England’s largest stretch of heather-covered moorland. The area is ideal for leisurely strolls and energetic walks the Cleveland Way and Coast to Coast paths, both pass close by, and with trails varying from gentle forest paths to strenuous hill climbs there are routes to keep walkers of all ages and abilities happy. When it comes to days out and dining beyond the village, the neighbouring towns and villages have regular markets and fairs plus a wealth of great restaurants and cafés. Explore the picture postcard villages on the North Yorkshire Moors such as Goathland (the setting for Heartbeat and Harry Potter), visit Great Ayton - the boyhood home of Captain James Cook - and the bustling beautiful market town of Helmsley.
Why not leave the car at behind and take a train from nearby Battersby train station. Go exploring the North York Moors on the steam train or visit Whitby with its many pubs and famous abbey, then sample the renowned fish and chips and get the last train home. By car, the Roman city of York is approximately an hour’s drive to the south with the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District around an hour to the west. The east coast with its many fishing villages and beaches is around a 35 minute drive over spectacular moorland scenery. There is something here for everybody. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.
