Robert could not have been kinder or more helpful and responsive. Our car broke down on the way to the property and Robert took in our Tesco order and put it all away, then drove to the garage where our car had been towed and drove us back to the property. A few days later he drove me to the garage again to pick up a courtesy car. All this in a really friendly and willing manner. This did a lot to alleviate our anxiety about our transport problems. During our stay, Robert and family were really welcoming whilst entirely respecting our privacy. We loved the property and its peaceful location are looking forward to booking again.
We really appreciated our stay in this large, yet very cosy cottage. Being on one level made it very convenient for our daughter who is disabled by MS. The walk in shower right next door to her bedroom made access easy for her. She was able to use her stroller inside too as corridors and doors are wide. Robert and his wife were extremely helpful and friendly and brought us logs for the wood burner. It was mild during our stay and we were more than warm enough using the heating provided. The two bedrooms are large and beds and bedding very comfortable. The kitchen is large and well equipped. The cottage is well placed for walking or cycling and is within a short distance of the main road.
A delightful cottage of two double bedrooms in the heart of Somerset farmland with all amenities and comfortable beds, spotless and inviting. In cold weather, there are excellent working radiators in almost all rooms. If the directions appear unclear, guests should know that the entrance is through the double metal farm gate approx. 100m past the thatched house on the corner, and Root House is situated away from the road, between the main house [South Harp Barn] facing the road, and the horse stables. It may be advisable to bring boots, as the cottage entrance door is across the farmyard and over an unpaved lawn. To be thoroughly recommended.
Great sized cottage in a great area with great hosts, me and my family had an excellent time staying there. Only point of consideration is that the kitchen could do with a few more utensils to make self catering a smoother experience
Robert and family were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The cottage was perfect for our stay. It was cosy, warm and gorgeous. Really well equipped with a lovely log burner which was great for the cold evenings although the central heating worked really well too. Robert was very responsive providing more towels and logs when needed. We visited a National Trust property and also went to the Fleet Air Arm Museum both of which were less than 30 mins away and very interesting. Root House is highly recommend if visiting the area.
Wigborough is a beautiful hamlet surrounded by gorgeous fields.
