We had a great stay, the house had everything we could possibly need. Nate was super nice and checked in on us to make sure everything was good, which was super nice of him because not a lot of hosts do that anymore. Definitely will stay again next time we come down to ride Hatfield
This house had lots of extra amenities from lots of camp chairs for use around fire pit to easy to use gas grill and great toaster oven/toaster. Garage area indoor lights are even motion sensor which was awesome and having access to garden hose to spray off muddy vehicles after trail riding was very much appreciated. Having a chair in each bedroom and plenty of hot water for showers for 4 adults were all pluses in my book as well.
Your guest house is located on a quiet residential street. In the immediate vicinity, there is a gurgling creek and a small community park which abuts the back of the property featuring: a merry-go-round, swings, a slide, a basketball court as well as a pavilion, picnic tables and a grill. It's a delightful and super-convenient place to take or watch over the kids when a low key, but fun activity is needed. Mullens Overlook, aka 'Tater Hill is a scenic overlook is a central is located just a few blocks away. I like to jog and the "Tater Loop" takes about 15 minutes. It has a viewing deck that affords you a birds-eye view of downtown Mullens, the railroad yard and a parabolic view of the mountains. It is a short hike to descend into the business section of Mullens. On your way, listen for church bells in the distance. The beautiful Guyandotte River adds a charming accent and recently I waded upstream to gather supplies at Walgreens and chatted with a friendly fisherman I crossed paths with along the way. Alternatively, there's a Family Dollar if you're running late and need that extra hour until closing time. IGA grocery store and Dairy Queen is 5 minutes away by car. It takes about 20 very scenic minutes to drive to Pineville (Ole Jose Pizza/Mexican, kayak rentals, Castlerock outcropping), Twin Falls State Park (swim beneath waterfalls, Pioneer Farm, golf, trails, picnic) or the city of Beckley (Tamarack, convention center lots of restaurants). New River Gorge whitewater rafting, ziplining, hiking etc. and Winter Place ski resort in Ghent are about 45 minutes from Mullens and make for easy day trips.
