Oyugis · 整套民居 · 1室4床1.0卫 · 可住4人 · Abach valley Cottage, a country getaway
The Abach Valley Cottage is a family friendly cottage that accommodates four people in a fruit country garden, nestled in a river valley. The cottage accommodates 4 people. There is a two people bed in the loft and two single beds in the main room. A baby cot is available on request and at no extra charge. The kitchenette is fully equipped with convenience appliances such as an electric kettle, blender, fridge, and microwave. Many of the fruit trees in the garden produce loads of fruit during different seasons of the year. You get to pick and eat Golden apples in the months of November and December, Avocado in the middle months of the year, 5 different types of Guava in the first quarter of the year, and various mango varieties in December, January, February. Make some preserves and carry it back home. We have a large Gazebo which is a relaxing and cool place to enjoy meals, read a book, play table games or just hang out. An early morning walk up any of the many hills provides good exercise and an elevated view of the villages. There is a waterfalls a walking distance away and on a quite night you can hear the whisper of its rumble. Kendu bay is about an hours drive away and you can go there to swim in lake Victoria or stand by the shores of lake Simbi Nyaima and listen to the legend of its formation as told by the local story teller. You may also want to spend a night away and visit Ruma national park where you will see the rare Roan antelope in the only place on earth that it exists. For people who love water sports you may want to visit some of our islands and jet ski or engage in other sports. You could drive around the lake to visit the kit mikayi Rock and climb up its rugged face, and listen to yet another fascinating legend. Abach Valley Cottage is your gateway to Eco tourism in the lake region. I have minimal interaction with the guests unless the guest expressly requires it. My interaction will be limited to Meet and greet and maybe farewell. Abach is a small village of 22 homes nestled in a river valley. Everybody is related to everybody. A river provides a source of water, development, and socialisation. People love guests and invite them home for a meal. The main source of livelihood is farming. The easiest way to travel around is by motorbike taxi, shared taxi (matatu), by car hire, or by personal taxi.
A wonderfully peaceful stay at Apondi's cottage. We loved the quirkiness of the cottage and location - a quick walk down to the stream and then up the hill gives a nice view of the surrounding area. Apondi was a great host as was the caretaker, Jack. Loved the fruit from the grounds - so tasty! Just be sure to get directions directly from Apondi and not from Airbnb "itinerary". Thank you for hosting us Apondi :)
Super awesome and beautiful space and place for a cozy retreat in a rural location surrounded by hills. The place is exquisite, and cost-friendly too. Bring cooking supplies with you, or ask to have meals made by the excellent cook (for a small fee).
Came to Homa Bay County for a family gathering in Kendy Bay. Decided to also treat myself to Christmas vacation. I wanted a serene family setting and this is exactly what I got from the second I arrived. Warm loving reception, great food, amazing conversations during my entire stay. I have gained a whole new network of close friends in an instant. Shared pics with family and friends. My niece even came to visit because she was so excited what I saw in the ad matched the pictures I sent. Apondi made sure brunch was ready when my niece arrived. My niece spent REALLY enjoyed the food and company. She left with everyone's number so she can stay in touch. One of those times you dream of a place you want to go rest in and the whole dream comes true!
Abach Valley is home to a good, down to earth, family loving community. Come with your hiking shoes and take long walks in the village. Take time to visit the Friday Oyugis market and join in the throng of market goers shopping for food and other market ware. The Mitumba market is epic (Vintage/ second hand clothes).
Do take a trip down to Lake Simbi Nyaima in Kendu Bay and sit at the feet of the story tellers, narrating a dramatic legend.
You get around by local taxi, Matatu (shared taxi), or motorbike taxi.
