The house holds 15 guests. During the warm months, the property can accommodate an additional 12 guests on tent platforms tucked into its 95 acres of rolling wooded hills and fields. A trail system connects the property's wooded lanes and four fields to a central, spring-fed pond, which features a dock, swimming raft, and recreational freshwater fishing. In warm months it's a great place to sit around the campfire or enjoy a cook-out and dine on the 10-foot pond-side picnic table. Or, host a small outdoor gathering in the barn! The house has been completely remodeled. The large, open kitchen/dining/living space is the perfect place to cook and feast with family and friends. A three-season second-story sunroom offers even more seating for dining, cocktails, or quiet reading and reflection. This property is the perfect place to bring together multiple families for an extended vacation or reunion, or to host a retreat. Escape to the woods and fields and enjoy 95 acres of privacy! The space is beautifully furnished, neatly kept and a great space for spending time as a big group. We particularly loved relaxing on the porch enjoying the breeze, strolling the grounds and visiting the chocolate shop. It's a great space for a group, with thoughtful touches for children. The owners have included a binder of helpful details and the local rental management company was helpful, but Red Awning seems to just be a middle man who knew nothing about the property which made communication frustrating at times - like playing a game of telephone. I would certainly stay at this property again, but would book it directly through the local property management company in the future.
The house was as described in the listing and was great for a weekend away in Maine. We did not use the grounds much - paths were overgrown, lots of tall grass and tick warnings, and poison ivy. But there was more than enough space to hang out in the house. The enclosed porch is particularly nice. It got a little hot, as the windows in the kitchen/living/dining area do not actually open and there is no AC. But the porch windows do open so it was cooler out there. Check in was easy as we were given the code to access the house. The kitchen was great and made prepping/serving large meals easy. We wished the chocolate shop downstairs was open!
