Nevada City · 整套小木屋 · 1室1床1.0卫 · 可住2人 · Cozy Cabin on Deer Creek
This charming "tiny" cabin is mountain-quiet, surrounded by oaks and pines, next to Deer Creek and the Tribute Trail, but very close to Nevada City. Well-suited for a solo adventurer, a couple, or a small family seeking a retreat. Equipped with a full kitchen, indoor bathroom, clawfoot tub under the stars, plenty of outdoor space, and upper loft designed for a child. Come swing in the hammock, jump in the creek, and relax on this secluded homestead ! Experience Nevada City at its best. "The Cabin" was built about 15 years ago (as our first "home" while building our main house) on a hill overlooking a stretch of Deer Creek and today is a feature in what has become a magical 25-acre homestead, organic tiny farm and campground owned and managed by river conservationists. Located about 1.5 miles from downtown Nevada City, you'll park a few steps from your private cabin and an exclusive outdoor area that includes a picnic table, outdoor seating, hammock, gas grill and fire ring. As illustrated and captioned in the photos, the cabin is indeed small, but well designed and organized. The ground floor includes a queen bed, fully equipped kitchen, a full bath room, and small dining table. The upstairs loft which was designed for a child in mind (very little headroom) is accessed by a steep ladder and has a queen futon bed on one side of the loft and a little sitting room/library on the other. Attached to the outside of the cabin is a screened and private outdoor claw-foot bath tub, perfect for a soak under the stars (we supply the bath salts!).
We had a serene stay at the cozy cabin and really enjoyed all the walking trails nearby! That was the best part!
Incredible property and cabin. Everything you need for a peaceful retreat in Nevada city. The owners have done an amazing job with the property. Will stay there again when I’m back in town!
I stayed for 6 weeks loved every second highly recommended it is in a rural location a park like setting with goats and chickens filling your day with joy
This place was perfect for a weekend getaway. The property was beautiful and the cabin had everything you need and was extremely comfortable. We had an amazing stay and would absolutely stay again!
As for the "neighborhood" of the homestead, a few notes: the 25-acre property is surrounded on three sides by public land owned by BLM. Deer Creek runs right through the property. We helped design and fundraise for the Tribute Trail and have provided an easement for the trail our the property. While you'll have exclusive use of the cabin and the outside area, and should expect a peaceful and serene setting with the sound of the creek below, you should note that the cabin is one of a few habitations on this property.
We live in a house behind the cabin, there's another cabin downslope. Further away and out of sight is a creekside group campground called Dipper Camp that we also host. While courtesy calls for you to respect the privacy of other residents and guests on the property, you're welcome to roam the pathways that lead to a network of public trails on hundreds of acres of neighboring public lands, including swimming holes, beaches, jumping rocks and footbridges over Deer Creek, and hiking and biking trails that ultimately lead back to town or further afield.
About Deer Creek: There are lots of "Deer Creeks" in California; this is the one that has the "Scotts Flat" reservoirs in the headwaters, then flows through Nevada City, past this property, then down through Lake Wildwood and ultimately flows into the Yuba River. Prospective guests have asked about flows: Deer Creek flows refreshingly cool and steady and predictable throughout the summer, because the flow is both augmented by South Yuba water and the releases from upper Scotts Flat reservoir, there's really no risk that Deer Creek (at Dipper Camp) will experience low flows, even at the end of a hot dry summer. Elizabeth and Steve have spent careers advocating for free-flowing natural rivers--here and internationally--but we are contentedly resigned to the fact that Deer Creek water management results in a refreshingly cool and deep swimming holes along this property all summer long.

It's possible to bicycle or hike into The Cabin, but you'll likely arrive by car. From downtown Nevada City, it's 1.5 miles (one mile is a somewhat rough dirt/gravel public road). Once at The Cozy Cabin, you can connect with hiking and biking trails (e.g. the "Tribute Trail" crosses the property and continue onto adjacent public lands. Travel by car to sections of the South Yuba River is about 15-20 minutes away.
