Lovely cottage in a fantastic location. The house is really well equipped and very clean. Communication with Abi was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Stone's Throw and would definitely stay again and highly recommend to friends and family. Many thanks
Wonderful - excellent communication with Abi and great recommendations. Cosy and comfortable cottage full of Cornish charm- spotlessly clean and welcoming- with Easter treats on arrival. A great base for visiting the magical mount and near by beautiful St Ives. Visited the delicious Copper spoon daily for scrumptious cinnamon buns, cookies, blondies and cream teas. Enjoyed food at the Mexico inn and Kings Arms.
A lovely cosy comfortable cottage with all that we needed within and a super location. When we had a minor TV issue, Abi was round within the hour to try and sort it. Lots of lovely beaches and walks to do within a short distance. Great cafes and restaurants to visit.
Stones Throw is a beautiful Cornish cottage overlooking the bay to the side. A two minute walk round the corner and you are looking up at the fantastic St. Michael’s mount. The cottage was clean and very well equipped and Abi had placed flowers on the table and left Cornish cookies which were delicious - we thoroughly enjoyed our week and felt very well looked after. Would recommend this location.
Stone's Throw is tucked away off a little lane in a row of 4 terraced cottages, known as 'Seaview Terrace'. As the name suggests the terrace has views of the sea and is just steps away from the ocean. The property is nestled in the old heart of Marazion, amongst quaint granite cottages. Directly below the property is a quiet dog-friendly beach, the first section of beach is a rocky area perfect for rock pooling at low tide and beyond this is a lovely stretch of sand. To access the beach just follow the steps which run below the property. Though do bare in mind that this beach is not accessible at high tide.
Round the corner from Stone's Throw, less than a minutes stroll is the old quay which is where you can catch a boat over to St Michael's Mount or perhaps go for a dip! It's also a super spot to sit on the benches and enjoy the view across Mounts Bay towards Penzance and Newlyn. This is an equally spectacular spot at night time when the lights of Penzance are glowing and hopefully the skies are clear too for you to enjoy the twinkling stars above. At low tide the quay has a little pebble beach where you can sit and relax.
Stone's Throw has the best of both worlds being so close to the water and just a 3 minute walk from Marazion's many pubs, restaurants, cafes, shops and galleries.
On the outskirts of Marazion (still just a 5 to 10 minute walk from the cottage) is Marazion & Long Rock Beach - a long stretch of golden sand perfect for buckets & spades, swimming, water-sports and lazing on the beach. Near the beach is an excellent play area with swings, slides and climbing frames, ideal for entertaining energetic children.
If you enjoy walking or running there is a recently upgraded coastal path / promenade which hugs the coastline and runs all the way from Marazion to Penzance.
For those with a passion for wildlife Stone's Throw coastal location is superb for watching seabirds; enjoy Little Egrets and Oyster Catchers feeding in the rock-pools below the property, watch seals bobbing in the sea whilst you sit comfortably in the armchair in the window of the upstairs bedroom. A 10 minute walk away is RSPB Marazion Marsh which is a small area of reed bed home to a variety of wetland birds, seasonal highlights include spectacular murmurations of Starlings in the winter months and a get a glimpse of a variety of migrating warblers in the summer.
The great thing with Stone's Throw is that so much is on your door step and you can walk everywhere in the Marazion area. If you want to explore a little further a field here are some options:
BUS
Why not catch the bus from the centre of Marazion, a few minutes from the cottage. There are several routes available to locations including Falmouth, St Ives and Penzance Bus Station where there are connecting buses to most of the local area. The buses are run by First Group Cornwall and you can checkout their website for up to date timetables.
TRAIN
From the station at Penzance there are train services to nearby St Ives and Carbis Bay, further afield across the county to the likes of Truro and all over the country if you require.
BICYCLE
If you like traveling on 2 wheels then there are several bike hire companies such as 'Lands End Cycle Hire', who offer traditional bikes and E-bikes. In Penzance there is a Cornwall Council E-bike scheme run by a company called 'Beryl' - their app allows you to collect and pay for an E-bike from one of their 33 docking bays dotted around Mousehole, Penzance, Heamoor, Gulval & Marazion.
CAR
The local public transport network covers much of the surrounding area but everywhere is accessible by car. Driving around Cornwall is a great experience as the scenery is so stunning but the country lanes and fishing-village streets can be quite narrow so do take care when driving and consider if public transport or park & ride may be more suitable.
Parking can be limited in some locations so there's never a guarantee that you'll find a space.
