Make your break simple in my calm, 2015 built, well insulated, warm holiday home, all on one level. A 5 minute walk into Dornoch with its stylish Scottish stone buildings, Cathedral, pubs, restaurants, cafes & gorgeous independent shops. Its one mile from the stunning beach and famous Royal Dornoch golf course. The house is our personal respite holiday home away from our Scottish Highlands rewilding croft 15 miles away. Dornoch has a special seaside micro climate and is always warmer than Muie! The bungalow was recently built in 2015, this means the insulation and heating works brilliantly. It's radiators heated via an electric boiler. (I promise you, as we live in an old stone house full of character, they may look nice but they are freezing to live in and always have very inadequate heating which suddenly becomes super important when you are perpetually cold! ) The entrance hall is quite wide so easy to pull your golf clubs into and there is space by the kitchen wall to park them overnight. The open plan kitchen, dining and sitting area is very convivial so you can all chat when preparing food. One bedroom has a king size bed with sliding door built in large wardrobe. The other bedroom has two single beds with a smaller built in wardrobe. The house displays all the original art works collected since the 1980s by my family. The dining table was my Grandmothers and the chairs were my parents which we recovered. The standard lamp was a present from my Mum when I bought my first house. There is our whole library of reference and cook books that have survived our many moves over the years. We hope that the history of these much loved items permeates the little house and creates a homely feel for you too.
Sarah was very friendly and helpful. Her place was presented like brand new and beautifully decorated. The location was very quiet and handy. Would love to stay again
Sarah’s place was homely cosy and practical. One of the best air bnb accommodations we have stayed in.
Really enjoyed staying at Sarah's cottage - it was located in a quiet cul-de-sac. She met us on arrival to hand over keys & walked us round the property to show us amenities. Bathroom was clean & bright with strong hot water shower - bedrooms & bed linen were spotless. Kitchen & living room were clean & comfortable. Sarah was friendly & very helpful - would recommend.
The holiday home is set on a quiet residential cul-de-sac on the very edge of the small town of Dornoch. The sea stretches out on one side, the Highlands on the other. The houses are spread spaciously and our garden backs onto fields. The Struie Scottish Highlands are in view from the garden. The rest of the land into town is very flat. You can walk through the houses via a footpath directly into Dornoch in five minutes. It is quiet historic seaside Cathedral town, its current wealth built up from the Royal Dornoch Golf Course. Its origins go back centuries but it became popular in Victorian times connected via rail to Inverness as a weekend seaside golfing town. Dornoch is within an hours drive of 12 more Golf Courses. It's a lovely place to stay and explore from.
Dornoch town itself is a 2 min drive and 5 to 10 min walk to the Cathedral which is in the centre, you can see the Spire from outside the house. Around this central point there are Restaurants & Cafes eg. Luigis, Greens, Milk & Honey, Oriental, The Eagle, The Castle. Shops are interspersed in the same streets - The Jail, Becca Mac, Dornoch Stores, Co-op and more.
Royal Dornoch Gold Club house is a 15 min walk or a 3 min drive. The beach right next to the Golf Course.
Driving further afield for day trips:
Dunrobin Castle, Golspie is 12 miles, a 21 min drive
Falls of Shin is 19 miles, a 30 min drive, via Lairg where I highly recommend you stop and eat at The Pier.
Ullapool on the West Coast is 61 miles, a 1. 30 hour drive.
Alladale Wilderness Reserve is 26.5 miles, a 50 min drive, though it may take you longer as the drive in past the river is glorious.
Tongue on the North Coast via the Flow Country is 59 miles, a 1.30 hour drive.
John O'Groats, up past Wick, a drive up the East coast is 79 miles, 1.50 hours drive.
Culloden Battlefield via Inverness is 47 miles away, an hour drive. We recommend you stopping at The Storehouse for a meal.
Parking is very easy as we have two spots on our driveway. All the parking in the roads around us is free. There is free parking in Dornoch town too as well as large long stay car parks. Walking is very easy as its all on the flat into town and down to the beach.
自我介绍
I live on a Scottish Highlands Croft with my husband Nick a Zimbabwean. We moved up here in 2021 and joined Northwoods Rewilding network as a land partner. Life before was on the Isle of Wight where I had grown up and we had been living for 10 years running our business IOW Biltong. Prior to this we spent 8 years managing Big Game Safari camps in Zambia and Zimbabwe. I have a family of Springer Spaniels and my Sproodle pictured! I lived in London as a student and then worked in retail for 7 years. We spent a few years in Essex where I taught Textiles Technology which is what took me to Zimbabwe as VSO teacher. We absolutely love our new life in the stunning Highlands.
