Gokotta Cottage is a few kilometres outside of the quaint town of Montagu. Situated on the R62 on 28 hectares of Renosterveld. Tucked away from the main road and overlooking a dam teaming with bird life. A large wall surrounds the cottage so you don't have to worry about your dogs or children wandering off. Relax on the spacious patio or take a dip in the large plunge pool. Completely private, self-catering accommodation to share with friends or family. Gökotta is a Swedish word that means the act of getting up early to greet the sun and listen to the birds sing. Our cottage is the perfect place to do just that! The cottage has a large patio for both dining and relaxing which overlooks the dam and another outdoor dining section if you'd like to spend your time facing the magnificent Langeberg Mountain Range. The cottage has a large enclosed yard so your dogs can come along too. The pool has been raised to prevent small dogs and children from climbing in. Ample parking space; one of which is very close to the house and behind the surrounding wall. The 3 bedrooms each have a double bed, side tables with lamps and ample space to unpack all your belongings. The bathroom inside the cottage comprises a toilet, basin and shower. There is a separate spacious toilet and basin just outside the back door. Enjoy a bath or shower while looking at the mountains from our fully enclosed "outside shower". The lounge area has an indoor fireplace and a tv with DSTV. The historic cottage has been tastefully renovated and has everything you need for a relaxed and private self-catering holiday.

A short but lovely stay, we felt very at home and enjoyed the house and the location thoroughly. The pool was perfect for us and we really appreciated how welcome the hosts made us and our pets feel. Will be back again!
My family and I spent Christmas at Shannon’s beautiful cottage and had the most peaceful and wonderful time together. The cottage has felt like a home away from home. I almost didn’t have to bring anything as there was spices, oil, coffee, tea and even wood. We loved spending time on the stoep overlooking the valley. Our dogs loved exploring the garden and it was really nice not having to worry where they are running to. I will definitely book here again.
We had a wonderful weekend! Shannon is an incredible host and has gone the extra mile to ensure you want for nothing while staying at the cottage! Having everything we could possibly need and more available, meant that we switched into relaxation mode immediately. Thoughtful touches and a real understanding of "pet friendly" made this the perfect weekend getaway to celebrate a family birthday together. Lots of family QT on the porch, close enough to town to explore easily and incredible night skies!!

When the R62 goes to sleep, one can think, recharge and recover from one’s own manic life. “When one wakes early to hear the birdsong” Gökotta has definitely been a lovely stay. Shannon and her team have taken extra care and effort to maker your stay wonderful experience, from the proactive communication ion, recommendations, welcome gift, care in the space with stunning linen and warm showers, to the load shedding lights to keep you safe when Eskom is off. Great place to leave the dogs and use as a base camp of the areas. Our gratitude to Shannon and Reinhardt for a love stay.

Secure parking behind a large wall. Close to the house. Space for up to 3 cars behind the house. Parking is also available in front of the cottage. No 4 x 4 access is required to get to the cottage. 4 x 4 access is only required if you'd like to drive the top road of the farm.

My husband, Reinhardt, and I moved to The Little Karoo almost 3 years ago after we fell in love with Montagu. We both still work full-time when we aren't looking after our 5 dogs and a cat. We would love to share our little piece of heaven with you!
