5 bed traditional French Manor House located in the Charente-Maritime upgraded but retains its French character. Large gardens, Private salt water pool ,Wi-Fi, Full satellite, Games barn, The estate is in a country location close to the spa town Jonzac, offering markets , evening street dining & entertainment. Picturesque fishing ports & villages on the Gironde estuary a 20 minute drive. Many beautiful beaches within 40 minutes . 1hr drive to fabulous La Rochelle , Bordeaux & their airports. This is the most amazing place to come to relax in amongst apple orchards and vineyards with easy access to the coast. A large 400 year old Maison Maitre . On the ground floor a fully equipped kitchen, a large dining hall with sitting area, tv for Netflix & other apps, a stage for children’s plays or dancing and singing. A large salon with Satelite TV French & UK , a second living room, a wii console , well stocked with board and card games, a downstairs toilet. Upstairs 5 bedrooms , 3 very large bedrooms one with shower and basin, these have king size beds and also single beds in 2 of the rooms. (there is a fold out bed and a travel cot on site) 2 further smaller double bedrooms both with desks and chair . A family bathroom. Sheets, duvets and towels provided, please bring your own pool /beach towels. A barn with table tennis, small snooker table & table football. Private salt water pool with sun loungers open May - September, acres of garden to run in , a large shady terrace to dine under or choose a tree to picnic under . Swings within the trees and basketball net. The garden is designed to keep dogs safe, you can relax knowing your dog has loads of space to run and is totally enclosed. New for 2024 we have a close relationship with a lovely local Pilates instructor, who can offer Pilates on the lawn, to suit all ages and levels. A wonderful way to start or end the day. Her details are available in the property or on request. We have a variety of different size bikes you are welcome to borrow to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside. For 2024 we are also marketing our own 3 double bed property on the estate "The Coach House" Please contact us if you would be interested in booking both properties together - sleeping total 18 people. A car is recommended. The closest supermarket is Super U in Mirambeau 8 minutes drive away. Arrivals from 4pm , departures 10am .

We had a lovely relaxing, peaceful time at Vanessa’s home. Plenty to do with bikes available to explore locally, a pool table, table tennis, darts and a football table in the barn. The sun rises at the front of the property and sets over the back absolutely stunning.
Thank you Vanessa and Andy we had a wonderful week in your lovely house. Plenty for everyone to do , we made the most of the bikes and the board games went down well! The games room was well used too. Great BBQ and outside dining area and good to have the option to also all eat inside. We loved the pool and our mini Daschund loved his morning paw patrol around the perimeter of the large garden and it was great to know that he could not get out. The house is well catered we appreciated the fans as it was a very hot week. We will be back xx

Beautiful! We had a wonderful week at Vanessa’s place. It really is a very pretty house. Loved the gardens and pool. Vanessa was a generous and accommodating host and the house was extremely well equipped for cooking. Excellent barbecue. Comfortable beds. Clean. We loved the sitting rooms which were beautifully decorated. Lots to keep all ages entertained - games in the barn, toys for younger children and plenty of books. Ee took the bikes for a spin on several occasions which was absolutely great. We came home relaxed and recharged. Easy to get to from Bordeaux airport. Would recommend a day in Bordeaux as it is a gorgeous city.
Nous avons passé une excellente semaine au Dunois. Nous étions 3 couples avec enfants, tout le monde a trouvé son compte, les grands et les petis et même le toutou ! La maison correspond parfaitement à la description et est très bien équipée, il y a vraiment tout ce qu’il faut. Vanessa a été une hôte parfaite : disponible, accueillante et nous n’oublierons pas le déjeuner partagé avec Vanessa et Paige. La région est riche en activité et en découvertes. Nous recommandons sans hésitation !

Countryside location surrounded by orchards and vineyards, Brocante and farm shop within 5 minutes walk , easy bike rides through the pretty French villages. 8 min drive to the popular karting centre Kart Extrem’ in Saint-Genis. The car free village of Talmont-sur-Gironde labelled as the most beautiful village in France is 30 mins drive.
Jonzac has plenty of shopping, restaurants and a weekly buzzing food market with live entertainment . Local Château’s to visit , wine tastings , the beautiful Medoc is accessible from Blaye via a car ferry and Royan . The Gironde estuary with its fishing ports , restaurants, oyster catchers , is a 15 min drive. So much to do or just relax by the pool taking in the scenery, listen to the many varieties of birds , sipping on the local pineau or famous Bordeaux wines.
A car is essential. We have a car available to rent upon request if flying in, we can also arrange pick ups from the airports ( Bordeaux or La Rochelle) with prior arrangement.
Cycling is a lovely way to see the area , the roads around the estate are quiet countryside roads.

My partner Andy and I moved to the Charente-Maritime in 2020 taking over an existing Gite business within the grounds of our home. The previous owner lived in our 2 bed cottage for 6 months helping show us the ropes, while we rented out our 3 bed gite for the Summer Season. We had only French people staying due to covid restrictions, our language improved and we made some lovely new friends. We were fully booked for the summer! This year we are very excited to be renting our renovated 5 bedroom Grande Maison Maitre, with the benefit of its private swimming pool. We are splitting our time this year (2023) between the UK and France , Our 2 little dogs Archie and Dave (Border Terriers) love France and will travel with us . They have their own private gardens away from the La Grande Maison but will happily come to visit if asked .Some of our guests loved taking our boys for walks around the quiet lanes taking in the views of apple orchards and vineyards. We are chilled couple loving the French country life, when we are not looking after the 4 acres of garden or working from home in France or The UK, we love to visit the various beaches, eating in the superb restaurants or simply taking a packed lunch and walking along the miles of sandy beaches. Our children are at university in the UK and visit as often as we can get them out here. We look forward to welcoming you and looking after many more guests here in The wonderful Charente-Maritime.
