This converted cart lodge and former restaurant is a historic timber framed detached building situated in the courtyard at Chigborough Farm. It has been lovingly restored to provide a luxurious, comfortable and cosy space for couples and has additional space for two on a sofa bed. Chigborough Farm is a well known holiday destination on the North side of the River Blackwater Estuary close to the historic Market town of Maldon in Essex. We also have other accommodation and a Farm cafe onsite. Please see the Chigborough Farm website for more information about the farm and facilities.

Samantha was a fantastic, friendly host. We bumped into her on day 1 and she gave us some great suggestions to keep us going for the weekend. The nearby nature reserve and the seaside were both lovely and the lakes around the lodge are beautiful. A wonderful spot for a quiet weekend. The cottage had everything we could have needed plus some lovely extra touches.

Chigborough Cartlodge exceeded our expectations! The decor was well thought out and just lovely. The covered porch was unexpected and peaceful. Location was fabulous; right next to a lovely cafe and a wonderful walk around the pond that is part of the Chigborough estate.

Nestled in 130 acres of farmland and fishing lakes down a quiet country lane. We are a short walk from the seawall of the Blackwater Estuary and within walking distance of the historic Market town of Maldon. Chigborough is a great location for walking or cycling holidays. We are on the National cycle Route and have great footpath links.
The Cart Lodge is surrounded by 53 acres of Coarse and fly fishing lakes which can be booked online at Chigborough Farm.
We have a dog freedom run on-site bookings can be made on the Chigborough Unleashed section of our website.
The Farm Cafe by Black Pig in the Chigborough Farm Courtyard is open Thursday to Sunday for breakfast and lunch , also evening meals on Friday and Saturday evenings.
There is a pottery painting studio, bootcamp, SUP, Yoga, Fish shop and Smokehouse also on site - pre booking is necessary.

We have 5 hire bikes located in the same courtyard as The Cart Lodge, The Farm Cafe and The Chigborough Pottery. Plentiful free parking and we are approx half a mile from a bus stop (although busses are fairly infrequent) Our local taxi firm is Arrow Taxis.
