The original details add to the rustic charm, while the newly installed bathroom and central heating and air provide the modern amenities you need. Relax on our super-comfy sofa, perfect for a lazy afternoon with a book, or take advantage of our location to Okefenokee Swamp in Waycross, Wild Adventures in Valdosta, or Summer Waves on Jekyll Island for fun day trips. And if it's outdoor fun you're after, we've got plenty of country trails, fishing holes, and back roads to keep you busy for hours. Book now and experience the ultimate farm escape. 13 miles away > Alma, Georgia (local shops and supermarkets — including The Blueberry Barn for all things Georgia Grown and blueberry) 20+ miles away > Baxley, Hazlehurst, and Douglas LIVING ROOM — The living room is built for both getaways and time away from your normal routine, treating guests to an intimate, inviting, and overwhelmingly comfortable space. Finished with reclaimed tin on the ceiling and walls and a fireplace accent wall covered in 100-year-old wood from an old tobacco barn. Equipped with puzzles, books, and board games, there are plenty of ways to spend quality time and make forever memories. And there's WIFI. KITCHEN — The farmhouse kitchen is equipped to prepare a quick meal with all the cooking essentials; pots/pans, dishes, utensils, dinnerware, flatware, and cutlery. An antique 1940s refrigerator, 2-burner cooktop, and microwave, along with a toaster, coffee pot, and mugs complete the kitchen. Enjoy a cup of coffee on either the front or back porch. Both have ceiling fans to keep you cool and focused on the task ahead... relaxation. BATH — The newly installed bathroom offers a shower, vanity, and toilet and is stocked with soft towels and toilet paper. BEDROOMS — The main bedroom has high ceilings with exposed beams and 2 double beds — perfect for kids or adults. The middle room has porch access and a daybed. All beds feature relaxing linens, comforters, and pillows — great for sleeping in after a long day of picking blueberries or doing nothing at all (also a highly recommended activity). The main sitting room, kitchen, and middle room have original fireplaces (although they are only for decoration). You'll stay cool during hot South Georgia summers and cozy warm all winter thanks to central heating and air throughout the entire house. OUTDOOR AREA — There is nothing quite like taking a deep breath of fresh South Georgia air. Unwind under the large pecan trees, and relax on one of the shade porches (famous in Cracker houses) surrounded by blueberries and pine trees. In the morning, watch the sunrise with a cup of coffee and stargaze at night with an uninterrupted view of God's creation. At night, bring your own wood and light a fire in the fire pit outside under the pine trees and stars. The owners live on the property and are available to answer questions regarding activities such as fishing, hunting, and the best country roads to explore. And (depending on the season) you can enjoy freshly picked blackberries, blueberries, oranges, figs, grapes, persimmons, and pears. Or roast marshmallows under the lights and stars at the fire pit. The Chesteen has been in our family for over 100 years. We hope you love it as much as we do.
