Tucked away by a stream in a secluded garden Karven at Rowan Cottage is set deep in the Cornish countryside in Trethurgy, near St Austell. As well as peace and quiet, it has one very big USP – it’s only a five minute drive or half an hour walk from the fabulous Eden Project! A beautiful global garden where you can rediscover the natural world as you've never experienced it before. On our doorstep are the Clay Trails, a series of scenic routes great for exploring the local area. Yeghes da! Karven is a 28 ft x 10 ft static caravan which has been refurbished with new mattresses and flooring etc. It used to be our home so we are experts at bijou living; we had the best time in the caravan and I often still sit on the decking with a cup of tea! Don't worry I’ll remember not to when we have guests in! :o) Our caravan is not listed as 5 star accommodation because it isn’t, but we have tried to make it as comfortable for your stay as we possibly can! Not all of the windows are double-glazed and with this being an older static we have provided a dehumidifier which you are welcome to run when the air is colder and wetter (this will help to remove moisture from the air inside). The log burner is for aesthetic purposes only, but should you fancy a fire we have firepits, logs and firelighters available for your use. Please note bedroom 2 is not suitable for adults, it ideally suits 2 young children as the mattresses are small singles although they can be pushed together to make a small double if preferred. Due to narrow steps leading up to the caravan and some uneven ground unfortunately it isn’t suitable for anyone with mobility issues; space inside is limited to allow for a wheelchair or any mobility aids. Bedding and towels (not beach towels) are provided, although you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer. Karven is dog friendly, ideally it suits 1 large dog or 2 small/medium sized dogs. Dog bowls are provided, but please bring your own doggie bedding, food and toys; we also welcome house cats. On occasions you may not have the same parking spot depending on how many campers are on-site, but we will make sure everyone has their own space. Outside of the camping season you will often have the whole place to yourselves!
When we first arrived, we thought we would only visit the Eden project. Nevertheless, this trip has turned out to be much busier, and for the better! Thanks to Fran and Mike's great recommendations, we can say that this has been our best staycation this year! :) During our weekend away, we visited the Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Megavissey, the Par market, and St Austell -- we would have loved to have time to visit other places that Fran and Mike suggested, but that shall wait until our next visit! Regarding the accommodation, Karven is extremely well located and close to everything (all the places we visited were between 3min to 20min by car!). We had everything we needed for our stay, even the relaxing sound of the stream outside their place! We were lucky to meet them in person so that we could show our gratitude, they have been wonderful to us. Highly recommend, we shall visit again if we have time in the near future!!
We enjoyed our short stay. Fran was extremely helpful and her directions to find the location were perfect. Fran was very responsive and helpful with any questions we had.
Very quiet .relaxing after long journey nearly missed the wedding we came for such comfy beds very nice hosts if we neede anything they were there .very nice stay not long enough .
A wonderful few days, the caravan was clean, tidy, and in a brilliant and private location. Great for getting away for short trip, we really liked the proximity to the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan! Fran was very responsive and provided so much useful information, would definitely recommend to anyone.
Trethurgy is a village in the parish of Treverbyn, it’s about 2 miles northeast of St Austell and is the perfect base for exploring Cornwall and the county's many attractions and gardens.
The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan are close by, along with Charlestown, Fowey, Mevagissey and dog friendly beaches.
The A30 is conveniently close with Newquay being approximately a 17 mile drive.
Cornwall FootballGolf (dog friendly) is nearby and is the number one outdoor activity to do in Cornwall with the same rules as crazy golf, but instead of using a club players kick a football into a hole with lots of obstacles to contend with along the way! There are two 18 hole courses to suit all ages and abilities, so it’s the perfect day out for all the family!

I live in Cornwall and love travelling with my family and our dog in our campervan. I enjoy cycling, walking and I do run (although I don't enjoy it) . . . !!! My husband Mike and I look forward to welcoming you to Karven at Rowan Cottage and what was our old home (the caravan).
