The birth of Abundant Place! Abundant Place was born from a vision I had of starting a family-owned business. My name is Ann Winbush and I am a Real Estate Investor/entrepreneur. Therefore, I started working at the age of 12. Hence, I did everything from tutoring, babysitting, and cutting fabric in my Aunt’s boutique. Then, I had summer jobs cleaning the streets of Detroit, African Dance performances at Hart plaza , and selling candy at school. I also styled hair in my bedroom for extra cash. It’s important to mention, my mother saw the passion I had for hair and dance, and she supported both. During my senior year of high school, I became pregnant with my beautiful daughter Nyanna and had to make a decision about my career path. My options were #1 join a dance company and raise my child on the road or #2 become a professional licensed hairstylist. With courage, I chose the latter and I have never regretted my decision. I went on to have two more biological children, a handsome son named Gervon, and a gorgeous daughter named Samiah. In early 2000, I met a wonderful man named Jerome. We later married and I added one more stunning daughter, Jailynn to my family. During that time, I also earned a degree in Social Work from Wayne State University. Back in 2012, our family had a traumatic experience that shook our very beings. My second born, Gervon had emergency brain surgery and it changed my perspective. I knew I needed to find a way to switch gears and come home to be with my family. As a hair stylist and salon owner, I worked long hours and was away from my family most weekends. Without hesitation, once my son healed, I began searching for a way I could retire from hair and come home full time. My search for a way home led me to build my relationship with God. Furthermore, I became an ordained minister. During this season, I opened a brick and mortar clothing boutique which is now online through Poshmark. I also published my first book and began to write several more. Next, I created a YouTube channel. Moreover, I continued my journey by becoming a speaker and started volunteering, and that landed me on a TV show called “Welcome Home” as an Interior Designer. Today, I am a Real Estate Investor/ entrepreneur. My daughter Nyanna inherited the entrepreneurial gene. As a little girl, she would sell pickles to my clients. Nyanna also used her creative genius for fashion and sewing to design one of a kind bags and purses to sell in my salon and boutique. She has a love for makeup and personal styling as well. Moreover, Nyanna earned a bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandise and Marketing and began her journey in the retail space. She soon discovered she didn’t like the hours this career path required. A career in retail required her to commit to long work hours, weekends, holidays, and blackout dates that prevented her from attending many family vacations and holiday gatherings. As a result, she decided that traditional retail was not for her. Therefore, she increased her sales on Poshmark, Estsy, and other selling apps. She also obtained her Real Estate Agents License, and became a Real Estate Investor. Nyanna and I joined forces in October of 2019, we became a Mother/ Daughter Duo... Best Thing Ever! We began our journey together down the path of Real Estate Investing by hosting a few events to get started. We also tried wholesaling, pre-foreclosures, and driving for dollars. However, once we heard and learned about the Airbnb concept we were all in. We share a passion for design, fashion, real estate, interior design, helping people, and hosting events. Joining the Airbnb platform gave our vision “Abundant Place” life and our “Passions” a home. We hope to create a brand that allows our passions to thrive and share our love for all things creative with You! Have you ever had a dream that seemed so close, yet so far away?
