Gornji Grad is located on the Dreta River, a right tributary of the Savinja, in the southeastern foothills of the Kamnik–Savinja Alps, about 36 km East of Celje and 55 km North of Ljubljana. Traditionally Gornji Grad belongs to the region of Styria (Lower Styria), it is today included in the Savinja Statistical Region. In the West, the road leads up to the Črnivec sedlo mountain pass and to Kamnik in Upper Carniola. Gornji Grad has a rich history as a fortress (grad) already existed at the site in the early 12th century. There is a baroque church in Gornji grad with a second church dedicated to Mary Magdalene for which the stonework was created by Andrej Cesar in 1869 and the paintings by Tommaso Fantoni and Matija Koželj in 1870.
Guesthouse 902 is located in the middle of a pass between Kamnik and Gornji Grad and is a god starting point for hiking on the nearby mointains of Velike planine, Kašne planine and Menine planine. Cycling is very popular here as the nature is beautiful and there are marked cycling paths as the area once hosted the Slovenian cycling tour. Not far from the guesthouse, about 8 kilometers, is the Thermal Spa resort Snovik where guest can go to relax or have some aquatic fun. Kamniška Bistrica river is 18 kilometers away but is very beautiful to take a hike alongside the slow flowing water, we recomment to guests to go siightsee it if around Kamnik.

It is best guests have their own vehicle to get around. A EV charging station is available on the parking lot.
