Kapunda · 整套乡村小屋 · 3室3床1.0卫 · 可住6人 · No 19. The Reservoir Cottage
The cottage is an historic sandstone building, built in 1879. The property is in a calm & tranquil location, set in 2.5 hectares of land, with views facing the reservoir in the 'Pine Reserves'. Originally built for the reservoir manager, the reservoir used to supply all the water to Australia's oldest mining town, Kapunda. Located in the Barossa Valley, 15 minute drive to the nearest winery, 45 mins to Clare Valley. Maggie Beer Farm shop 20 mins drive, golf course near, pool in town. The house is solid sandstone, with polished wooden floors. Updated with uber lux in mind, three rooms with queen beds. Each room has been designed for comfort and a good night’s sleep, whilst still retaining the original features. The dramatic 4-metre-high ceilings are beautiful and keep the house really cool in summer. The front door opens on to the view of the ‘Pines Reserve’, the main eating /drinking table, is outside at the front of the house, under the portico, you can enjoy your views whilst eating breakfast and having a coffee. There is movable seating with the long eating table. (See photos). Set in 2.5 acres he house is very tranquil and is private with neighbours in the distance. The log fire in the lounge is lovely for snug winters, and a fire pit outside for winter star gazing, and marshmallow roasting, lots of wild life to see and the views all around are outstanding. The kitchen has an induction cook top and oven, and a slimline dishwasher – because no one wants to wash up on holiday! Pantry holds the basic items, milk, a jug of water, olive oil, salt pepper, tea, and a few pods for the coffee machine etc. To make your stay easier the bathroom has, a hairdryer shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, we provide the bedlinen and towels, and feel to soak in the clawfoot bath (bubble bath / or bath salts provided). There is a washing machine, (line outside for drying). There is a combustion fire in the lounge, stacked with a fire ready to go for your convenience. There is a lot do in the surrounding area and I have listed some items in the notes. Enjoy.
Beautiful cottage and learnt so much history on the nearby walk. amazing spacious bedroom and bathroom
Great secluded spot, walk through the reserve opposite was easily accessible. Beautiful old house and surroundings. Was easy to find and get into. Juliet provided super easy to follow instructions and hints and tips for the house and things to do.
Cute cottage with peaceful surroundings. Great spot for a family getaway in the Barossa region.
Lovely old home, quiet, clean and very comfortable. Host was very quick to respond to any questions we had. The Pines Reserve trail close by is a must, great historic trail with info on the house! The only thing that was missing was having the sheep on the property:) Loved our stay!
My family stayed at Juliet’s place for a long weekend. Comfy beds. Kitchen had everything we needed to prepare dinner and breakfast. The house was super clean on arrival. The only thing that was a challenge, was that the only dining table is outside under the porch verandah. Something to be mindful of if traveling in wet or hot times and planning to eat in. Communication with Juliet was first-class. Very clear instructions, friendly and responsive.
Kapunda is famous as the oldest mining town in Australia. The drive to Kapunda is beautiful, lots of little towns to visit, there are cycling trails to explore, a golf course, trotting (horses) park. The Pines Reserve is great for walking and wildlife, echidnas, kangaroos, budgies, etc. The town has the main essentials, and a great Foodland, for all necessary supplies. Located between Clare Valley and Barossa it ideal for exploring both wine regions. ( You can hire affordable tour buses with drivers) .
