A family home in the Surrey Hills, equidistant between the market towns of Godalming and Haslemere, with wonderful country walks through National Trust woodlands from your doorstep. The Star is your local pub with some fantastic beers on tap and delicious food with a great beer garden. For those that just want to rest and enjoy the house and garden, Secretts farm shop in Milford is a great place to stock up on local produce, with a fantastic butcher next door. Recently built four bedroom detached family home occupying a great location within Gasden Copse, a prestigious private road adjoining Mare Hill Common. The ground floor benefits from underfloor heating, with premium kitchen appliances by Siemens & AEG. There are three bathrooms all having fittings by Villeroy- Boch and with Porcelanosa tiling throughout. The accommodation comprises on the ground floor of a spacious entrance hall, cloakroom, impressive dual aspect sitting room, superb 31' x 24'10 ' L-shaped kitchen/dining/family room having two sets of double doors leading out onto the rear garden. There is also a useful utility room and double bedroom with en-suite shower room. On the first floor there is a large master bedroom with en-suite shower room, two further children’s bedrooms (one with cot bed, the second with single bed, plus trundle drawer) and a family bathroom. Outside a driveway provides off-road parking and leads to an open barn style double car port. The gardens are a particular feature being of a good size including a large sandstone terrace and laid to lawn with established laurel boundaries. The garden enjoys a good degree of seclusion and sunny westerly aspect.
The house and garden are beautiful and have everything you need for a really comfortable stay - especially suited to families. We were especially grateful that family dogs could be accommodated, and for the 11am check out time! Alex's communication was timely, helpful and really friendly. A fantastic option!
A walkers paradise, adjacent to Marehill Common as Witley and Milford common and well beyond. Trail walk and runs from the doorstep can take you on vast circuits across stunning Surrwy heathland should the mood take you (highly recommend komoot app or similar to help you explore your surroundings).
As well as the nearby national trust lands, Thursley Nature reserve is beautiful, and the views from the top of Blackdown are well worth the short drive to Haslemere.
For those inclined towards wild swimming you have two options at either Frensham ponds or the Wey navigation canal toward Guildford.
Wonderful countryside walks wouldn’t be the same without a great pub to focus the mind. Your nearest pint (and it’s a delightful pint) at under a mile away is the Star, Witley. A longer walk through fields will see you rewarded with the fantastic Dog and Pheasant in Brook (though you do need to get back before getting too comfortable). For those happy to get I’m the car the you are spoilt for choice though we seriously recommend a trip to the Duke of Cumberland on a sunny summers evening, well worth the 20 minute drive.
Other spots nearby well with a mention would be the hilltop kitchen in bus ridge for a coffee and a pastry with stunning rural views. Secure a table for lunch if you can!
Guildford with its shops and restaurants is conveniently located, and there’s a huge amount to do including the Spectrum with its leisure pool, skating rink and bowling alleys.
Closer still are the market towns of Godalming and haslemere, but it’s well worth a visit to the two owned Secretts farm shop and the adjacent Black Barn Butchers if your planning to do any cooking during you stay
For any little monkeys there’s also ‘Go Ape’ at Alice Holt near Farnham, a climbing and ropes course that starts for children aged five and up.
