Charming flat on the second floor of a traditional building from 1702. 5 minutes walk from the railway station, in the middle of village. Our village Reckingen is located in the east end of Wallis/Valais. This is a very authentic area of Switzerland with villages with traditional timber buildings from the 17-1800's. Our house if from 1702 and is situated in the old village centre, close to bakery, butchers shop, cheese makery and grocery store. Wonderful for hiking, skiing or just relaxing A nice top flat in a traditional house from 1702 (with a scandinavian touch to the interior) in the charming village of Reckingen, Switzerland (kanton Wallis). The flat has one bedroom with a double bed and a children's cot. In addition to this there is a larger living, dining, kitchen area with all necessary equipment. The bathroom is tiny, shower and toilet, with the sink situated in the hallway. Simple standard, but functional. Design from the 1960´s but everything works. Hosts can be contacted in English, German, and of course Norwegian.

A beautiful, historic house, simply and cleanly furnished, with a little "Nordic" flair. Clean and comfortable beds and furniture. An ideal retreat for quiet days. We felt very much at home. Anna and her family were very supportive. Right in the centre of Reckingen. A stone's throw from the train and the cross-country ski run. The village has a dairy, grocery shop, butcher and baker. Very convenient. We will gladly return.

Anna and her family have a lovely apartment in Reckingen. We felt very comfortable from the very first moment. The apartment is very well equipped - especially the kitchen invites you to cook - and nicely furnished. The house is located in the old part of the village and is a perfect starting point for excursions in the region Obergoms. Great hiking or mountain bike tours can be reached easily. Furthermore Anna was a great host, answered very quickly and could answer all our questions. Altogether we liked our stay in Reckingen very much. We would recommend the apartment to everyone and would like to come again one day.

The flat has two rooms. A bedroom with a comfortable bed. The living room, like the whole apartment, is very comfortable, practical and nicely furnished. There are very nice pictures hanging on the walls (subjective taste). It has everything to make a toddler happy. Although it doesn't have a balcony, you have a very nice view of the mountains on three sides. The kitchen is very well equipped. Shower and toilet Small but okay. Everything was clean! The apartment is on the third floor of an apartment building. We were the only residents. The immediate vicinity is quiet and beautiful. Everything you need is 3 minutes away. Totally recommendable is the local swimming pool in summer. Anna was very friendly and responded quickly to questions. Thank you!

Reckingen is in the heart of the Swiss Alps. This is not a resort made for tourism. Life is calm, the buildings are how they have looked for hundreds of years, sheeps and cows in the old barns and fields. The village has a small bakery, butcher, creamery and grocery store. Restaurants and bank services are nearby.
The area is a very authentic part of Switzerland with rows of villages with restored timber houses from the 17- and 18' hundreds. The area is wonderful for hiking, rafting, climbing and biking in spring, summer and fall. There are also great resorts for downhill skiing (from beginners to experts) just a short train ride away. Downhill slopes for children in the neighbouring villages in both directions, just 5 minutes car ride.
The UNESCO World Heritage Site Aletsch Glacier is located in this area, and is accesible from Fiesch (a 30 min train ride with the local train, or a 15 min car ride) with cable car. There are also hiking and skiing slopes all over the valley - many of them passing just in front of our house. Please note that this is NOT in the Interlaken area. Interlaken is a 1,5 hours car ride, or a 2,5 hours train ride distanse from the flat. We have many guests that have made a day trip to Interlaken from our house, but then you have to keep in mind that this will be a full day tour. We usually prefer to stay in the area when we are visiting ourselves. Enjoying the scenic landscape around the village, and going to small hikes (or train trips) to the neighbouring villages for lunch.
You will find fine restaurants in both Reckingen and the nearby villages.
The flat is a 3 minute walk from the train station. Train to Brig (a connection point for trains going between south and north of Europe) and Göschenen leaves every hour. The Glacier Express - the slowest express train in the world - passes our village.
By car the area is easy accesible, the Furka Strasse goes through our village, but you have to check the alpine passes in the winter season. They may be closed then and make the drive longer than expected. Furka pass is always open due to the car on train service under the pass. Also an experience.

I live in Bergen/Norway with my family, but we spend as much time as possible in my husbands hometown Reckingen in Switzerland where the flat is located. This is a lovely spot. The village is very authetic with old timber houses and small farms, and also situated in the midst of a most spectacular alpine landscape. Since we live in Norway we are not always around, but are always avalable on internet or phone. My parents in law are always around and will be of assistance when needed. And when we are around we live on the top floor of the house and then we always like to stop by to say hi to our guests.
