Welcome to the ”1870 Langmaid House”! We welcome you to consider this well-appointed suite within a stunning Victorian on historic Lafayette Street. Our guests love the central location. It's a short (1.2 mile) trip to down town Salem's restaurants and bars, yet far enough away to be quiet and peaceful...the perfect combination. The City of Salem offers a sponsored transport service, "Skipper" for trips inside the city limits for $2. Guests will have private access to the house directly from Lafayette Street. Pass through the vestibule to the front door. Once in the foyer take the main staircase (see photo) to the 2nd floor. Guest Room will be directly in front of you, with a private full bath just to the left. A private laundry room and kitchenette is just to the left of that. Guest may also use the sitting room just outside of these rooms.

Such a lovely place to stay. Fred and Tyna were wonderful and their home is so beautiful. Our suite was extremely clean and had all the amenities needed.
Fred and Tyna were attentive to our needs while still allowing for privacy. Questions were answered quickly, both before and during our stay. The space was beautifully furnished while allowing for space to make it our own. It was exactly what we needed for a quick escape from parenting life.

The 1870 Langmaid House is a beautifully furnished, immaculate historic home that is located within close walking distance to many attractions and restaurants. Our section of Lafayette Street is in one of Salem's largest designated Historic Districts. As such the exterior of the building remains authentic in every detail. The result is a neighborhood that's consistent and inviting. It's a short walk (one block) to Salem harbor as well as Forest River Park (three bocks), and the Hocus Pocus house. Also within walking distance (1 mile) you'll find historic downtown Salem with its world renowned Peabody Essex Museum, dozens of restaurants and bars, train service to Boston, and our seasonally operating high speed ferry to Boston.
Much of Salem is within walking distance, but other options exist as well. Salem Skipper is a virtually free ride sharing app for trips within the city limits. Lyft and Uber, as well as several commercial taxi services are also readily available.
