The Dordogne is still a land of milk and honey (or of strawberries and truffles in fact!), a land of plenty in beautiful countryside unchanged by the passage of time. Fortified houses, mediaeval castles, white lime-stone villages, the Perigord Vert is a source of perpetual wonder, and not only for your eyes… Gastronomy and music, in other words, the good life!
And for those who love nature and sport: swimming, canoeing/kayaking in the river Dronne, cycling along the hillside roads set in unspoilt countryside, riding, climbing, golfing are all easily accessible and enchanting.

Nestled in a charming and peaceful hamlet, 2 kilometers from the lovely village of La Tour Blanche (bakery, butcher, post office, grocers, tobacconist and newsagents, hairdresser and a medical centre) our property is perfectly situated for discovering the authentic Perigord Vert and the best of the beautiful Charente.

A VIBRANT CULTURAL LIFE
-The very popular Itineraire Baroque festival, from July 22nd to July 30th. Baroque concerts organized by the international organist Ton Koopman tour the various charming romanesque churches
- Sinfonia en Perigord, baroque festival in the Perigueux area at the end of August
- The Douchapt Blues Festival, famous blues festival centred in Douchapt and nearby villages from June to October
- Chateau en fête, for two weeks 41 castle owners of the Périgord vert open their doors.
GASTRONOMY
Indulge yourself with the famous strawberries, truffles, walnuts and foie gras of the Perigord, and wine from Bergerac. The art of gastronomy here is an established part of life, whether you have a picnic on the banks of the river Dronne, dine in a riverside café, or pick a gastronomic restaurant, the good life is everywhere. NATURE AND SPORT
Directly accessible from our house, there are five hikes which you don’t need a car to reach. There are many more around Brantome and Mareuil. The Dordogne is a walker’s paradise.
Whether you prefer golfing (Perigueux, (31km) 18 holes, Aubeterre (30km) 9 holes), swimming in the river Dronne or in Lake Jemaye (34km) with its watersport centre, canoeing or kayaking (Bourdeilles 10km, Tocane St Apre 13km, Brantome 20km, Aubeterre 30km), cycling with rental possible (Montagrier 11km, Brantome 20km), riding horses (4km) or ponies (13km), rock climbing at the Forge de Boulou (9km) in beautiful countryside, the choice is yours, just a few kilometers away.
