Rüeggisberg keeps the Bernese features from the 18th and 19th centuries with typical farmhouses, in the main street and uphill. Rüeggisberg is still very original. Fruit trees and the buildings and cottage gardens underline the rural character of the place. Majestic views of the Stockhorn and Niesen mountains and of the Bernese Alps (Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau) are seen from our house. The ruins of one of the first Clunacier priory (1072) are unique in Switzerland. The history of Rüeggisberg is linked to it since and is a popular stop for pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela. In Rüeggisberg there is a bakery-convenience shop and a LANDI food and hardware store. The small town of Riggisberg is a 10 minute drive away where you find a butchery, a cheese shop, bakeries and a COOP supermarket.

Rüeggisberg is a very comfortable and central location to explore the UNESCO heritage federal capital Bern (30 minute drive)), the Bernese Alps and lakes (45 minute drive) as well as Gruyere, the home of cheese and chocolate (60 minutes drive). A private car makes it easier to get around quickly. However, public transport in Switzerland is well developed and allows you to also visit all tourist spots. There is an hourly postal bus connecting Rüeggisberg to Bern main train station from early morning to late in the evening.
