Ever wanted to see what goes on in a commercial bakery? Imagine waking to the aroma of baking bread and cinnamon rolls? Get a bird's eye view into the kitchen of the Village Hive Bakery Kitchen while staying in the newly renovated "flatlet". Salvaged & repurposed building supplies used to create a unique studio apartment above the bakery retail. Guests have access to the retail farmhouse table and comfortable seating space by the Main Street picture window. Cooking/baking classes available.
The flatlet is a great little spot! The space was just as pictured, cozy, warm, and relaxing. The bed was very comfortable, a little on the firm side but not uncomfortable at all. The space is super cute and well put together, and the scones were delicious. The town is cute and had a few restaurants in walking distance and a great little gift shop just a couple of doors down from the flatlet. Unfortunately we didn't get to experience any baking happening downstairs, which was a little bit of a bummer but it was still exciting to see down into the kitchen. The extra space on the first floor is a great addition to the flatlet. We really enjoyed our stay and would go back.
We cannot say enough about this place! Amy is a breath of fresh air as far as owner of a property goes. She is relaxed and easy-going, making is an enjoyable and stress-free time for her guests. We loved the little Village of Amherst. Just a hop, skip and jump from the flatlet is a nice park and beautiful waterfall off the dam. We also ventured a few miles away to Waupaca for some fun antique store shopping and fine dining. Only one warning for the guests of the flatlet: "You cannot buy just one item of bakery-that one item will keep you going back for more! What a great time we had staying at the Tiny Town Bakery Flatlet!
I have stayed here before. If you are looking for a place in the local area to conduct business, can’t beat the price and location.
The Bakery Flatlet is located at the main intersection on Main Street in tiny downtown Amherst.
The mill pond (located less than a block away) is part of the Tomorrow River. Perfect for a kayak trip. There's a park close by with jungle gym for the kids, a quiet place to picnic near the river and lots of hiking and biking trails close by.
O'Brien's Irish Pub is directly across the street and the perfect place for a pint and some cribbage. The pub has a patio with live music on Sunday afernoons. The Landmark Coffee Shop is located in a historic building across the street. It's a good choice for a latte'. Flemings Restauarnt and Ambrosia's (pizza) are walking distance on South Main.
13 Chairs has more eclectic fare and caters to those with dietary limitations.
The Village Gift has local artist items for sale and Adeline's Closet has women's clothing. Both are walking distance.
Ok Hardware and Planet B are both worth a stop. The hardware store is quintessential small town -very helpful and they always know what's going on. Planet B has vintage clothing, herbal remedies/classes on detoxing/and curiosities.
The Amherst Opera House is a block away and often has music or events.
The Jensen Center (3-4 block walk) offers live music and a variety of community activities.
Lettie Jensen Library is within a two block walk and ice cream lovers can walk or drive to King Kone (by the grocery store).
If you need a quick cut/color, check out Angelina's on Main St. (imagine Steel Magnolias as a reference point).
Savor the small town vibe!!
