Set in the tiny and picturesque hamlet of Lancharre, La Grange de la Porterie is an outstanding renovation of a traditional, stone Burgundian house and Barn. Featuring 4 Double Bedrooms and a breathtaking triple height entertaining area, it is the perfect house for families or friends to discover the beauty of the area. In the heart of the village of Lancharre, La Grange de la Porterie is a large, imposing building overlooking the ancient Gatehouse and Lavoir. Entering via the stone steps at the front of the house, the door opens onto a large and beautifully presented modern Kitchen with exposed beams, dining table and kitchen island along with a large fireplace with a wood burning stove. In the corner of the room, a spiral staircase leads you up to the first of the Double Bedrooms with separate dressing area and a beautiful, open plan Shower room and WC. Back down in the kitchen, a wide hallway leads to the second Double Bedroom and a large family Bathroom with separate bath and shower. Further on, a wooden staircase ascends to the third Double Bedroom, again with a stunning open plan, ensuite bathroom. Glazing behind the bed allows guests to look down through the beams over the Mezzanine and all the way down to the ground floor of the Barn conversion. Back in the hallway, a large, handmade solid wood door leads up a few steps to the Mezzanine area of the barn. Here you will find a large screen TV and seating; a perfect spot for relaxing or taking a break. The sofa here doubles as a day bed and can accomodate 1 extra person if required. From the Mezzanine, an enormous custom made steel and wood staircase winds it way down to the ground floor of the Barn. Featuring traditional stone flooring with underfloor heating, the Barn covers an area of approximately 80m2 and is a stunning space for entertaining. A unique dining table made by a local artist dominates the centre of the room, whilst an old carpenter's bench now converted into a mini kitchenette with fridge occupies one corner whilst a large corner sofa offers somewhere to relax. A dart board and table football offer additional entertainment. Large Patio doors open out on to the small terrace at the front of the house with outdoor table and chairs and a BBQ for alfresco dining. Back inside, the fourth Double Bedroom leads off from the main room and is completed by an ensuite WC featuring the original feeding trough along one wall, harking back to the Barn's former existence. The Property is supplied with all linen and towels free of charge.

Lancharre is located not far from the road between Tournus and Saint Gengoux le National. This road was built on the old Roman road linking Tournus to Autun. This hamlet, in the middle of the countryside, is away from the main roads but remains firmly on the circuit of Romanesque churches, passing through Brançion, Chapaize, and Cluny, to name a few.
The hamlet, with its Romanesque porch, the church and its tombstones, echo the peaceful life of the "Ladies of Lancharre" installed in their beguinage in the time of the knights.
Close to many "Clunisian sites", Lancharre is surrounded by a rich and important history, in addition to being situated between the vineyards of the Côte Mâconnaise and the Côte Chalonnaise, where many of the most popular wines of the region and indeed the world, are produced.
The village also has many hiking trails and routes and the "Voie Verte" is only a few kilometres away. This is an old railway line, now paved, where you can cycle or rollerblade in peace between Chalon-sur-Saône to the North, Cluny and Mâcon to the South. There really is something for everyone!
Coming from the world over, today's visitors to the region are touched by it's charm and it's breath-taking scenery.
Lancharre is a small and quiet hamlet located not far from the main road linking St Gengous le National and Tournus. Situated on the Place de la Porterie there is ample parking just in front of the house.
