Upon arrival, the odor of sulfur was immediately apparent. The notes about the house left by the owners mention that this has become an issue recently and suggested a recharge of the well system. Doing this, however, seemed to have the unintended effect of making the smell worse. The drinking water filtered through the refrigerator was generally fine, but taking showers, etc. was rather unpleasant. I recognize that this is a difficult issue to solve, but the information about the house provided online could have been more upfront about the situation. In addition, the garage door was broken and required a pry bar to open (which they provided and recommended we use), and the outdoor grill was not functional. Finally, the bunkbeds are not really big enough for adults to use. On the flip side, the kitchen was fully functional and the location was awesome, with lots of nearby trails. With a bit more TLC, this location would make an excellent spot for a family gathering.

This place far exceeded our expectations! There were SO many things to do; and it was so perfect for our family to spread out and play games, cards and enjoy the lake. We hope we can make it back. The hosts truly thought of every detail. 10/10

Our family enjoyed a wonderful stay at Forest Lake Getaway in August, 2023. The place was clean and well supplied with linens, towels and kitchen products. There was plenty of room for our family of eight. We personally slept on the king bed and thought it was extremely comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed the lake and all of the numerous beach "toys". The pedal pontoon was fun and a good workout. The place is very peaceful and quiet. As stated in some previous reviews, the water did have a rather strong smell, so we suggest bringing your own drinking water. All in all, we had a great time!

We had a great stay at Catherine’s place!! We had two families with 5 kids, so it was nice having 2 bedrooms on both levels as well as a kitchen and living area. The beachfront was great and we made use of all the watercraft’s. The beachfront does get a bit weedy once you get past the dock, but there is a big sandbar straight out from the house which we could get to with the pedal pontoon. Off the dock looked like an aquarium and the kids really enjoyed catching a ton of bluegills and one bass. The two fire pits were a bonus as well! We also enjoyed a beach day at Mauthe Lake which is a very short drive. A great weekend to reconnect with family and definitely recommend booking this place. Thanks Catherine!

We had a really great time here. There are so many things at the house, as far as amenities available, that we never felt like there wasn’t something to do. The beach area, lake, pontoon. They are all great. There’s limited cell and Wi-Fi there, which we actually enjoyed. It really allowed us to focus on the fun of the area, lake, and house. We did reach out to the owners about some funky smelling tap water while we were there and they were responsive. The lake and location are very nice and when we wanted to get out of the house there were some hidden gems in the area. We have talked about coming back next year we enjoyed it so much!
