The neighborhood is called Vesturbær in Icelandic and is the first district to develop when Reykjavík started to grow from a small village in the late 19th century. The area is beautiful and cozy to walk the streets there and it also has the city's most popular walking path, Ægissíða, with sunset gazing location and view over the sea and to the mountains and a big swing for both kids and adults.
You can find bars and restaurant within a few minutes walk from our house and only approx. 15 minutes walk downtown and to the Grandar harbor with seafood shacks and hip restaurants. We would be happy to tell you about the best restaurants and places. There you can also find "Fly over Iceland" and go on whale watching trips.
When the sun is shining it is also possible to sit outside our house in the yard with cozy surroundings, trees and birds singing .
From Vesturbær there is approx. 20 minutes walk to Kvika footbath, a man-made hot-spring that has a nice view over the mountains to the north and the glacier Snæfellsjökull. There is also an old light house, golf course and a restaurant with a excellent pizza. Also it is possible to take a bus there, the bus stops in front of our house and takes about five minutes to this nice area in Seltjarnarnes.
More about buses. Two other bus lines stop from our place and go straight down town or wherever you might want to go.
Two outdoor geothermal swimming pools are in walking distance from our house. The first one, Vesturbæjarlaug is one of the most popular swimming pools in Reykjavík and the other one is also very nice and even with a waterslide for kids.

Right in front the house is a bus stop from where you can get to the centre or anywhere around the Reykjavík area.
