The Capitol building, and the garage where free parking is provided are one block away.

The apartment is on Washington Square, the main street in downtown Lansing, and is within walking distance to many restaurants, bars, and local attractions. You will find that Lansing is an easy city to navigate, with an extensive sidewalk system catering to pedestrian traffic, and well-displayed signs and maps directing you to your destination. The popular Lansing River Trail, 2 blocks away from the apartment, also provides an enjoyable, scenic means to access favorite areas - The Trail intersects Michigan Avenue and winds along the Grand River and the Red Cedar River, leading to the trendy historic Old Town Neighborhood (1 mile walk), Potter Park Zoo (2 mile walk), and Michigan State University (4 mile walk).
Traveling by car to any part of the city normally requires very little time, and you have the option of driving on the city's main roads, or the adjacent highway system. The on-ramp for I-496, which encircles the city and surrounding areas, is conveniently located a quarter mile from the apartment. I-496 runs east-west from I-96/I-69 near the downtown area, and north-south along a section that runs concurrently with US Highway 127. The Capitol Loop off I-496 guides motorists to the Capitol Building and other downtown attractions.
Michigan Avenue runs from the front of the Capitol Building to East Lansing and Michigan State University, a 7-minute drive away. REO Town Neighborhood, an artsy, cultural haven, is a short 4 minute drive from the apartment with free parking on the City Streets. The entire Lansing area is home to numerous parks and nature centers for plenty of year-round outdoor recreational activities. Lake Lansing is 7 miles from downtown Lansing and offers beaches and swimming, nature trails, and boating.
Parking is free on the city streets during weekends (after 6:00 pm Friday until 8:00 am Monday,) and on weekdays after 6:00 pm until 8:00 am.
Free Parking is also available in the Parking Garage at 201 South Grand Avenue one block east of Washington Square - use the parking card in the unit to enter and exit the garage.
Lyft and Uber are available, and CATA (Capital Area Transit Authority) is the affordable city bus service.
For the adventurous, electric scooters are parked on the city sidewalks and available to rent.
