Come experience the Gateway to the Blue Ridge Mountains! Beautiful 2 bedroom home on 7.5 acres of gorgeous blue ridge serenity. Sit back relax and enjoy a BBQ on the oversized deck overlooking the resident mini donkeys. Spend days exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway, the New River Trail, and many of the surrounding wineries. This is truly paradise for those who love the beautiful outdoors as well as a little small town charm and some good ol’ mountain music! Horses allowed :) 2 bedroom 1 bathroom home on 7.5 beautiful acres. One bedroom is equipped with a queen size bed and the second a full size bed. Both rooms have closets, and smart TV’s. The spacious kitchen is stocked with new full size stainless steel appliances, all of your basic cooking utensils, and a coffee maker. You will also find an assortment of spices for any of your cooking needs. You will find a washer and dryer unit as well as cleaning products. Enjoy your morning coffee, or a glass of wine while BBQ’ing on the oversized back deck with new patio furniture as you enjoy watching the donkeys at play. Not only will you also enjoy stargazing at night but In the summer months you will be graced with a beautiful light show as the array of fireflies show off their beauty throughout the pastures and trees. You may also enjoy eating the fresh blackberries that grow in the back yard :) Enjoy a good book on one of the couches located in the sunlit filled living room. There you will also enjoy a smart tv for all your binging requirements :) WiFi is provided. You are welcome to use your own accounts such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, YouTube TV etc. After a long day of hiking the beautiful trails throughout the Blue Ridge mountains, enjoy a relaxing rain shower in the full size bathroom with fresh towels. Enjoy the very friendly resident mini donkeys, Peanut & Butter living in the pasture for guests to enjoy watching, petting and feeding the occasional carrot :) For those guests who would like to bring their own horses to ride the amazing nearby trails, there is a 2.5 acre pasture for guest horses. There is an additional fee per horse per night and must be pre approved by owner with proof of recent coggins. Because we have donkeys on property there are no other pets allowed. Due to having to walk up stairs to get into home, we are unfortunately not handicap accessible.

The home was a perfect place for our small family. The entire place looks newly renovated and is really clean and modern looking inside. Accommodations were great. Bedrooms and living room had plenty of space for seating and relaxing. Bathroom was clean and appealing. Although we didn’t use the kitchen much, it definitely had everything we would have needed. Towels and linen available for use were clean and new looking. We always worry about traveling to non baby proofed places, but the home was so tidy, free of clutter and beautifully but minimally decorated that we felt right at home. Our two toddlers enjoyed watching the donkeys and occasional squirrel, deer and birds outside. We really appreciate how responsive the host was and hope to come back soon!

Really enjoyed our stay here. The house has been done beautifully and sits in a quiet, peaceful location. Plus there’s miniature donkeys! Convenient to downtown Galax and the Blue Ridge Parkway which was perfect for us. Also, there’s literally at least a dozen wineries within a 45 minute drive or so from the house if that’s your thing also. Great value and enjoyed everything about our stay, would definitely come back!

I booked this stay for my father as a gift so I can’t comment specifically on the stay (though he said it was lovely!), but the hosts were very responsive and communicative. There was an urgent repair issue needed, and that is when it is wonderful that they were hosts who were not too far away and could come by themselves but also had connections to make sure the issue was resolved in a timely manner. I do hate there was an issue since the trip was a present, but the hosts were kind and dropped off a small gift for my father after the incident. A big thanks to the hosts for their help and communication!

We loved staying at Kayla's cottage. It's in a beautiful and peaceful location and close to the town of Galax, which we also loved. The cottage feels newly renovated and is super clean. It's cosy, incredibly comfortable, and generously stocked. Highly recommended

Little has changed about the town's main stretch of small businesses and shops, and it's this classic small town vibe which makes Galax such a unique place to visit. With a culture deeply-rooted in music, it comes as no surprise that Galax is home to the annual Fiddlers' Convention. This blue grass festival has brought visitors near and far to the town of Galax since 1935. Aside from music, Galax offers plenty of entertainment and attractions to its visitors and residents. For the outdoor lovers, the New River Trail is a must-visit. This converted rail-trail is 57 miles long and makes its way right through town. Looking for a more leisurely activity? The farmers market is certainly worth a visit. It's here you'll find top-notch produce cultivated by local farmers. If you visit during the summer, you may just get to sample some of these sweet treats. With its recreational opportunities, scenic small town, and musical spirit, there's a little something for everyone in Galax.
