Flaxley · 整套客用套房 · 2室2床1.0卫 · 可住4人 · Adelaide Hills Rural Retreat - Little Fermoy
If you're looking for a peaceful & secluded Adelaide Hills retreat we'd love to share with you our beautiful piece of paradise. Nestled on a 20 acre property ('Elouera on Shobbrook') in the heart of SA wine country 'Little Fermoy' is a cosy 2-bed self-contained guest suite located at one end of the property's main farmhouse but with its own private entrance & huge wrap around veranda (no shared facilities) where you can sit, relax & enjoy the property & beautiful views or local wildlife visits. 'Little Fermoy' guest suite has 2 large bedrooms (1 King and 1 Queen), a large bathroom, and a cosy combined kitchenette/living/dining space, all of which are centrally heated/cooled. The suite has a vintage country farmhouse feel and is fitted out with everything you could want for a wine-country getaway. Both bedrooms have ducted reverse cycle heating/ac and ceiling fans, wool carpeting and block out blinds, and are spacious and light filled, with plenty of hanging space and beautifully comfortable beds fitted with French flax linen bedding. The French doors off the main bedroom open to a very large private wrap around veranda, which has stunning views of the property and valley beyond. The large heritage style bathroom with plantation shutters has both a deep soaker tub and walk-in rain shower as well as underfloor heating (turned on in winter only), ceiling mounted heat lamps and heated towel racks for year round comfort. The kitchenette is very well equipped, with full size fridge/freezer, microwave, Nespresso coffee maker (with a selection of 'starter' pods), toaster, electric frypan, electric egg cooker, and a portable benchtop induction element (which you can pop back in the drawer when you're not cooking on it), as well as all the crockery and cutlery and glass and tableware you could possibly need. There is also a small electric BBQ located on the veranda. PLEASE NOTE that cooked breakfast supplies are provided for the first morning of your stay only. The cosy living/dining area contains a 3-seater couch, eating places for 4, a coffee table and a 32" wall-mounted smart TV. The extremely large covered veranda which wraps around the entirety of the guest suite adds to the suite's available living spaces - it provides additional casual living spaces which are fitted out with a second (outdoor) dining table and chairs for 4, casual armchairs, as well as lounging furniture. The outdoor living space/veranda spills out onto a very large grassed flat area with a fire pit off to the side - available May-Nov only - and which area has stunning views. The property is not suitable for children or toddlers (although parents with new babies are welcome). Little Fermoy is the first release accommodation offering on our 'Elouera on Shobbrook' property. Eventually we hope to open the main Farmhouse for bookings also, either on its own or in combination with Little Fermoy.
Highly recommend. The hosts were very friendly, the rooms were very clean and the surroundings were peaceful. They even provided us with food for breakfast and some fresh bread. It was a great getaway.
'Little Fermoy' was the perfect place for my wife & I to enjoy a quick weekend getaway. The host, Michele, carefully curates everything to make sure guests feel completely at home. The main bedroom & bathroom were both dreamy (my wife's word) - cozy, quality linen, and fluffy towels, really important to us. The kitchen was well stocked with great brekky supplies incl. home-made bread! - all locally sourced. LOVED the welcome gift of handmade face washer & soap set - have never had an Airbnb with such thoughtful touches, and its vintage theme is spot on. The verandah & private outdoor space is amazing. Lovely rural views, & so quiet and peaceful, we spent a lot of time just reading & relaxing, a complete unwind. The property is close to a fun local pub (Macclesfield) for yummo schnitzel, and only 5 minutes drive to Longview Winery, which we visited on our way home. This is a newish Airbnb, and we'd highly recommend it, 5 star all the way. Stay here, you won't regret it.
Located less than one hour from Adelaide and only 10 minutes from the regional township of Mount Barker, the property is located right in the heart of South Australian wine country.
The ‘Little Fermoy’ guest suite caters especially well for those who want to take advantage of its quiet rural location and peaceful surrounds and who are seeking a getaway intended for rest, relaxation and recuperation purposes.
But if that is not your thing and you want to get out and explore, you will be spoilt for choice. The Adelaide Hills, Langhorne Creek and McLaren Vale wine regions (all close to where the property is located) are positively teeming with world class/boutique wineries, distilleries, restaurants, cafes, chocolatiers, speciality shops and other popular attractions . Our closest winery is Longview Winery; it is just a short 10 minute drive away, and has an on-site day spa as well as cellar door and restaurant.
Our closest township - historical Macclesfield, with its 2 pubs, a vintage homewares store, cafe/general store and monthly market - is about 7 minutes drive away, and a few minutes further away are the country townships of Echunga and Meadows which each have popular pubs, cafes, and bakeries to choose from. The closest golf course is located on the outskirts of Echunga (Mount Barker also has a golf course, and there are several others dotted across the Adelaide Hills.)
The important tourism township of Hahndorf is a relaxed 15 minute drive from the property, with its bustling main street featuring an endless choice of cafes, restaurants and speciality shops most of which are influenced by the township's historical German settler past.
For those after a little pampering, Longview Winery's day spa has a full range of spa treatments available. Or take a relaxed guided walk through Jurlique Farm (15 minutes drive), where the natural botanicals that go into making Jurlique's skin care range are grown, and afterwards you can shop their range at the on-site farm shop.
If you are looking for fun day trips, less than 1 hour's drive away (or a fun steam-train trip) lie the beautiful beachside townships of Goolwa, Port Elliot, Victor Harbor, and Encounter Bay. For the adventurous or nature trail lover there are endless hiking and bike trails across the region including within the Kuitpo Forest (with its new Tree Climb attraction), and for wildlife/animal lovers the Monarto Safari Park is 45 minutes away by car and open 365 days a year.
Located amongst working farms, the property is quiet and peaceful, so you could also chose to stay put, wander the property, breathe in the fresh air, pull up a chair and read a book or just do absolutely nothing whilst you take in the gorgeous view from the wide covered verandah surrounding your private guest suite.
The guest suite is situated on a rural property, so you'll need a vehicle or prearranged independent transport to get here and get around; we are not serviced by public transport. That said, there are a number of companies which offer taxi, chauffeur driven or mini-bus (and even helicopter) services to get around, and that is often a good way to experience the many local wineries. Public bus services are available to/from Mount Barker, and there is a steam/historical train service (the Cockle Train and Southern Encounter) which run from either Mount Barker or Goolwa down to Victor Harbor on limited/timetabled days. Parking is generally free and easy to find in most of the townships or locations you might visit, with the exception of Hahndorf on weekends where parking, particularly in the main street, can be quite difficult due to its popularity as a tourist hotspot.
自我介绍
My husband (Chris) and I are a semi-retired couple who now live in the Adelaide Hills on our 20 acre property. Before retiring from the full-time work force, I worked for 30+ years at a number of universities across Australia, interrupted by a 6 year full-time stint as an Officer in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). In addition to welcoming guests to our beautiful property, I also run my own home-based on-line business - In the Knit of Time; I design and hand knit bespoke bed/couch throws and other homeware items. Chris spent his entire 40 year career in the RAAF also as a commissioned officer, and continues to serve part-time in the RAAF Reserves. We spend a good deal of our spare time working on our property, but when we're not doing that we love to travel both locally and overseas and sneak in a bit of snow skiing and scuba diving if we can.
