Travaria ia a little hidden gem just besides Lisbon. No fancy restaurants, nor resorts or any sort of things “for tourists”. But that is the question: is a place to see and feel the real thing. A excellent place to feel a little how it is to live the (excellent) life quality of small towns in Portugal, besides real persons, living the real local culture. Sometimes less is (much) more, and Trafaria is a perfect definition of it. Regarding Fernanda is a super-hyper ghost in all definitions, hard to imagine a better experience. Her accommodations, in a beautifully restored house, a pristine room and bathroom, excellent Internet connection, quiet neighborhood, a beautiful shiny light through the two large windows in one small room, a brand new bathroom with a excellent hotel-level shower… For one person, i feel it’s a perfect spot to stay, even for a little longer time.

This is 1 of my fave bookings! Enjoyed a week here, it’s tranquil, but a short drive to Caparica & Lisbon. I walked to amazing local restaurants, many facing the water. Also took morning runs then had coffee on the fishing port facing Belem. The beach is close and some parts aren’t busy, like Casa Reia, a hip place right on the beach I could work from with good seating.

Lovely lady, very friendly and helpful. Gave me a map and advice about where to go. Outside of the city but only a short ferry ride over the river. would recommend.

Sehr empfehlenswerte, saubere Unterkunft, super freundliche Gastgeberin, sehr gute Nachtruhe, nahe Strände (zu Fuß oder mit Bus), nahe Fähr- und Busverbindung nach Lissabon, nette, kleine Restaurants im Ort. Ein herzliches Dankeschön an Fernanda!

It was a real pleasure staying at Fernanda’s place. The guest room was lovely and cosy and I immediately felt right at home. The whole place is very well furnished and has such an easy-going vibe to it. Fernanda herself was hospitable and helpful with many advices she gave me about the seaside, markets, sightseeing etc. All in all, the stay there was even better than described or shown in photos. :)
