Ugo und Carmella waren sehr nett und hilfsbereit, haben schnell auf fragen reagiert und uns Wein und Früchte geschenkt.
Diffidently a place to go. The apartment is super clean and has everything we needed. And also many many thanks to Carmela. She is a fabulous host!!!
Set in the beautiful hills amongst the bountiful vineyards and fig trees the property is set away from the hustle and bustle of the Amalfi Coast but close enough to enjoy what the region has to offer. Carmela is a fabulous host who helped us from the moment we got there and waved us off as we left. She is a true asset to this property.
Tramonti, a small town on the Amalfi Coast located on the Lattari Mountains, is the ideal destination for a stay filled with history, nature and relaxation.
Located in the Lattari Mountains, Tramonti is a town founded by the ancient Italic Picentine people who built their first dwellings on these mountains with the intention of escaping Roman rule. The origin of the name Tramonti derives from its geographical position of ''place among the mountains,'' hence the Latin "Intra Montes." The town, part of the Amalfi Coast, is the main seat of the Mountain Community of the Amalfi Peninsula and came into being following the union of the Mountain Communities of the Sorrento Peninsula with those of the Amalfi Peninsula. More than a real town, in fact, Tramonti is a locality formed by several hamlets that are located scattered among the hills. The history of Tramonti has long been intertwined with that of the Republic of Amalfi, so much so that the sailors of this small village were called as "Marinai Amalfitani." With the end of the Maritime Republic, Tramonti came under the rule of the Normans, the Swabians, the Angevins, and finally the Aragonese. During the hostilities between the Aragonese and Angevins, Amalfi sided with the Angevins while Tramonti decided to support Ferdinand I of Aragon, who granted this small town many privileges and noble titles for many of its citizens.
Tramonti's buildings and architectural works are a living testimony to its history and multicultural past. Tramonti is made up of 13 hamlets, also known as "casali," and each of these houses ancient churches and places of worship often adorned with precious frescoes. A walk through the different hamlets of the village allows one to discover not only the numerous churches scattered throughout the territory (there are more than 15) but also the castles and fortified structures that were built in different eras for defensive purposes. Visiting Tramonti means frequenting small inns, trattorias and stores where you can discover typical local products, such as fior di latte, chestnut honey, extra virgin olive oil and wine. In addition, Tramonti is believed to be the true home of pizza, which has been produced here since the Middle Ages and, according to tradition, it seems that it was Tramonti pizza makers who exported this specialty throughout Italy.
The Path of the 13 Churches is a route immersed in the green of the Amalfi Coast to be walked in order to admire wonderful landscapes. This is a circular itinerary that starts and ends at Pucara5 and allows you to visit all the communities of Tramonti: Novella, Gete, Ponte, Campinola, Trugnano, Corsano, Capitignano, Pietre, Figlino, Ferriera, Paterno Sant'Arcangelo and Sant'Elia. The 13 Churches Trail has a length of about 14 km and an elevation gain of about 527 meters, and more than a hike it is a journey of discovery of this small village and its traditions.
Tramonti can be easily reached from Naples by car by taking the A3 highway for about 30 km to Angri. Once you take the exit at Angri it is necessary to proceed first along the SP2b and then along the SP2a in the direction of Tramonti. For those coming from other towns on the Coast, it is necessary to drive along the SS163 road to the Maiori-Chiunzi junction and then from there drive along the Via Nuova Provinciale Chiunzi/SP2a in the direction of Tramonti for about 7 km.
