The children have golden retrievers, horse, donkey, goats, sheep, lambs, ducks and chickens to name a few, plus there are the working dogs and sheep. Please do not walk around the farm unattended for safety reasons we need to know where people are. ENTERTAINMENT: There is a No TV at the cottage and internet is available but at a charge per stay. STAR GAZING: Our farm is located 690m above sea level at the house. Because of our location in the countryside there is no 'light' pollution in our area and this makes star gazing on a clear night magnificent. You can clearly see the Southern Cross star formation, the Milky Way, traveling satellites, etc HOSTS: Duncan and Sarah and our 2 children live on the property across the paddock. We are mindful of your privacy but happy to help if needed and enjoy sharing our farm life /local tips with you. PETS: Although we love animals, we unfortunately are unable to allow guests to bring pets with them as we are a working sheep farm. Dogs can carry Hydatids, which can cause sheep that are being processed for meat to be condemned if detected during processing. Our farm dogs are dosed against hydatids every 6 weeks. CHILDREN: Children are welcome at Mountain View Cottage and all children and infants must be declared and paid for on the booking - they are not free of charge. Please ensure you supervise your children at all times as we are a working farm. THE FARM PROPERTY: The farm area is 1600 hectares (3954 acres). From the cottage, you look over a portion of our farmland to the rear with the mountains in front of the cottage, taking in Mt Cook. All our animals are 100% grass fed and in the summer when grass is plentiful we make hay and balage provisions for winter. LOCATION: *Please remember you are visiting a large farm "which has its own unique location" away from the town, away from other tourists, without street lights, where you can relax and recharge in peacefulness, whilst enjoying the views, learn a little about typical New Zealand farm life, and interact with some friendly farm animals. Our farm is easy to find and is located 21kms up Mt Nessing Road from the Albury village. 2106 Mt Nessing Road. Fairlie: 30 minutes Guest access The guest accommodation is completely separate from our home so when you book, you have the entire accommodation facility, outdoor decking area There is direct access to the accommodation by way of 2 steps, and plenty of onsite parking. Our home is nearby but off-limits to guests and the farm is by guided tour only, because the farm is a work place and we have health and safety laws to abide by. Other things to note We are 30 minutes from the nearest supermarket, restaurants etc. If you do not wish to go out to eat, please bring your provisions for your evening meal. The Albury Inn (21km away). Carnegie's in Fairlie (30 minutes) have a fabulous lamb rack and pizzas on their menu. Also, there is the Fairlie Bakehouse, open from 6am to 4.30pm daily. Please note: there are no takeaway food options able to be ordered locally that can be delivered to our farm...
We had a relaxing couple of days at Mountain View Cottage. A peaceful location with fantastic mountain views.
Throughly enjoyed our stay in an “off the grid” location to completely immerse ourselves in the surroundings. Great opportunity to be still for a moment on a much needed break.
We had a wonderful and peaceful stay at Sara's place. The views are beautiful, and the cottage although spacious, is still cosy and homely. We loved being switched off and spent our afternoons and evenings listening to old cd's on the boombox while reading and soaking up the serenity as well as stargazing. Sarah's description of the place and area was perfect so make sure to read the full description. On our last morning we were lucky enough to go and meet the animals. Dogs, cats, donkey, horse, goats, sheep, chickens and ducks. We took the dogs for a nice swim down at the river on the property and it was wonderful. Sarah and her husband were wonderful and so hospitable. Highly recommend this for a relaxing reset to simpler times and nature. Thanks again
We are at the end of a No Exit road on a working high country station.
Peaceful, tranquil, clear skies, big starry nights, stunning views.
We are approx 30mins from Fairlie and 45mins from Timaru.
Parking is at the cottage. Lots of space.
Self drive only - no public transport.
自我介绍
Sarah is originally from the UK and fell in love with NZ on her OE in 2002. Along came Duncan the kiwi farmer in 2008 and the rest, as they say, is history. Married with two gorgeous children and living the dream on a high country station in the Mackenzie surrounded by animals.
