After being a host since 2010 on airbnb, being a founder host and guesting literally hundreds of lovely people with their families and groups, in 2 different countries, we have finally had our NIGHTMARE GUEST. It had to happen and we are glad it is all over. SARA PARKER has lied in her review. If that review is not removed then I will have no choice but to leave airbnb for good as it's just not acceptable. It goes against all their own policies and guidelines about giving false information. We have all 5 star reviews except for her. She is clearly bonkers. Anyway, let's move on... Why do we do that? So that small groups can rent the house and not pay a fortune. Obviously more guests, more wear and tear, more cleaning and more time consuming hosting. So we think it's a fair system. We rent our home a lot via direct communication, not via listing websites (as we live here) so we have only a few reviews so far from airbnb. We are always improving things... e.g. a $200,000 just finished - so we have been 12 months off the market. Max number of people is 'usually' 10-12 and that may mean the caretaker staying in the casita on the property. You will still have exclusive use of the house, pool, garage and garden. With the casita at an extra charge, we could host 14-16 at a push. New photos now available... As people say when they arrive, the photos just don't do the place justice! Our neighborhood is all above a million dollar properties which is a lot for this country. A lot of 'wow's when they arrive. DO YOU WANT … AMAZING LOCATION (not miles up a dirt road or way out of town!) plus AMAZING OCEAN VIEWS (amazing ocean views in town - even our neighbors are amazed when they see our views compared to theirs! And their houses are for sale from $1.2m to $2.5m!) plus the ability to walk to the beach & major surf schools in 5 mins/400m (past monkeys, birds, lizards, etc.) plus restaurants, bars, shops IN Tamarindo town itself. You can leave the car at home and walk or get a cheap taxi ride home ($3) or just not bring a car. Or hire a golf cart for that vacation feeling. (We get great deals on golf carts for guests) You can also walk to the back end of town, Avineda Central (Sharky's, Dragonfly, Seasons, La Esquina, La Baula, Mini Golf, Wok n Roll, The Patio, Falafel Bar, NO1, Long Boards, Green Papaya, Artificial soccer pitch, Skate park, basketball hoop, gym, Thursday night market, etc. etc.) in under 5 mins via the back way, not shown on the map. Either a short path through the forest where you are almost guaranteed to see howler monkeys up close and then a paved, lit road, OR, a straight paved, well lit road. The forest route is slightly quicker. Privacy….. and a tranquil location where you can hear the waves but no traffic...and no near noisy neighbors. in a huge house – 360sqm or almost 4000 sqft with 2 floors of great ocean views… including fantastic views of 4 beaches (Tamarindo, Grande, Ventanas, Langosta) and the whole of the pacific ocean horizon…..with uninterrupted sunset views every day! A big pool (10mx5m) with a purpose built water slide (hours of fun for the kids) from the 2nd floor of the house. Not a condo, so a big PRIVATE pool. A huge modern 2nd floor roofed but open sided entertainment/chill out area in which to relax and chill out with a 55inch Sony Bravia TV and Roku (internet TV streamer like Apple TV) You can easily 'throw' or 'cast' your content to the TV from your tablet/laptop/smartphone. Or watch Netflix, Hulu, etc. 2 AMAZING MASTER SUITES (with king beds) each with dramatic views over 3 beaches…. Tamarindo, Grande/Ventanas and Langosta/Avellanas....and 3 MORE BEDROOMS (including another queen room with ensuite and a double twin which forms a King) + 4.5 BATHS in total. (3 bedrooms with ensuites). No stepping over each other here. No one needs to sleep on a couch or a sofa bed! Or wait for a bathroom. Downstairs is a fully enclose-able (with AC) modern/shabby chic area while upstairs is like staying in an ultra modern villa with open sides and a fully enclosed master suite with AC. all enclosed areas have AC except bathrooms which have fans. We have just finished our major renovation - polished concrete floors, lovely new finishes inside and out and all modern white tropical style with lots of natural wood touches. The people who did Sunset House and Casa Alang Alang did ours. See photo descriptions for details. Very few bugs! Places lower down and closer to the beach and the estuary have a bug/ant/mosquito problem (just read the reviews on tripadvisor!). The estuary is basically a mosquito factory all year round. This house is designed for bringing the outside in (with as few bugs as possible!) so open windows, ocean breezes, open entertaining areas and use of ceiling fans rather than having the A/C on 24/7. Bedrooms have bug screens on windows where possible and where they don't interfere with the view. We hardly ever see a mosquito! Of course sometimes it's just toooo darn hot and you have to close all the windows and put the AC on. All rooms have AC including the very large downstairs living area. If you like what you read, then this is the place you are looking for. And we have price reductions for longer stays of 8 days or more. + 5 bedrooms - All but one have ocean views) ... TWO master suites both with King beds and private ensuite bathrooms, the upstairs master suite is 600 sq ft in size. ... one bedroom with 2 single beds that ALSO form a King ... one bedroom with a bunk bed; double below and single above 2 beds in total - sleeps 4 people ... and finally another suite with a Queen bed & private brand new bathroom all spread over 2 levels/floors + 5 bathrooms ...3 ensuite, 1 shared and 1 guest toilet. + Big pool 10m x 5m (especially by Tamarindo standards) with a slide + Huge downstairs enclosed living area 90 sqm /1000 sq ft at least. + Huge open chill-out area upstairs with huge TV (55in) and access to netflix etc. + 2 Gas barbecue/grills + Board games and books to read. + Water polo net, water pistols, life vests, noodles, goggles, etc. + Hammocks & Hammock-seats + Fast internet 10mb all over the house and pool area + Cable TV with over 100 channels + Rokus on every TV for netflix and hulu + Alarm + high security perimeter. + 3 safes – 2 wide ones for laptops – each can fit about 4 or 5 normal sized laptops. Just for peace of mind. + A/C in all bedrooms/living areas apart from the open air entertainment/chill-out area where there are 4 ceiling fans. That said, we get ocean breezes constantly and hardly ever need the a/c, the ceiling fans work just fine. + Water tanks for guaranteed 24hr water in this drought zone + High quality fixtures/fittings/items throughout, 600 count Egyptian cotton sheets, high grade British stainless steel cutlery, high quality china & cooking pots/pans etc. etc. This is our only property (in CR) so we can give you our full attention if you have a problem, unlike some agencies that handle lots of properties and don't offer a personal service. We are living here full-time at the moment so you will have access to all our cooking materials such as spices, oil, condiments, etc. if you want to do some cooking. Obviously you have full, exclusive use of the house and share with no one else! This is 5 star accommodation and at this price you will not find anything more luxurious with these qualities, amazing views, size and location... IN TAMARINDO TOWN. Maybe outside of town but who wants to drive miles every time you want to go for dinner? Also, the driving at night is challenging due to very few street lights anywhere out of town! There are nice large bathrooms, some with double basins, 24hr hot water, large showers/tub, nice bedrooms, a well-equipped modern kitchen with stainless everything... dishwasher, US style fridge freezer with ice and water dispenser, microwave, gas hob/oven, toaster, rice cooker, liquidizer, coffee machine, nespresso-style Britt capsule coffee also, etc. etc. Even washing the dishes is a pleasure while you look straight out at blue skies and ocean! See the pics. Breakfast bar - with 3 seats Solid wood dining tables that seat 8-10 easily. Upstairs and downstairs. An ENCLOSED lounge area with AC, huge sofa, hifi, cable TV, and portable Bluetooth speaker for connecting your music to wherever. Also, a stereo-hifi system to connect your device to. Huge 2nd floor entertainment area. With 55in TV with Roku/netflix, 1 huge corner sofa/couch for lounging around. Kitchen, BBQ/Grill for grilling with ocean views. There's always a quiet spot. 100% allergy friendly - no dogs or cats have been on the property for months, if not years. The same cannot be said of similar places where the owners/property managers have dogs, etc. Remember, we are in town and not up a mile long dirt track which is a pain to get up and down daily. Or which taxi drivers don't want to go up! Plus people are always driving up our road as there are some condos nearby. So just hitch a ride. Stick out your thumb! Parties and events can be requested/organised by direct contact with us. Our Christmas rates are one third of the rates some other houses charge. Our prices are always fair. Quality always high. The casita, at extra cost, is a full one bedroom apartment with 4 poster Queen bed and double Sofabed. Bathroom and full kitchen.
