San Luis · 整套小木屋 · 3室6床2.0卫 · 可住7人 · 70 Acre Wild Horse Mesa Retreat
Ancient herds of wild horses roam this 70 acre property which sits atop the mesa at just under 9,000 feet. Soak in stunning 360 views of sunrise over the Sangre de Cristo mountains, sunset over Mammoth Mountain & the San Luis Valley and the majestic Mount Blanca to the north. The cabin is the best combination of rustic and modern. On the electric grid so no worries about power. Gorgeous cook's kitchen with gas range and all the amenities. If you're looking for quiet and peaceful, this is it! The cabin rests on 70 wooded acres, uses a cistern for water and is connected to the power grid. Guests can expect a reasonably full cistern upon arrival, which should be plenty for your visit. We ask that you conserve water by keeping showers quick and being efficient with water while washing dishes. This beautiful space is used by our family on a regular basis so you may come across some personal items. It is decorated with found objects and family antiques which are up high or hanging on a wall. Please be respectful and enjoy! You're welcome to any food in the kitchen pantry, we just ask that you let us know so we can replace it. Spices are well stocked- help yourself! There is a coffee maker in the kitchen and a Keurig upstairs. We will provide some coffee but please plan on bringing all your own food and beverages. Jugs of filtered drinking water are provided but it couldn't hurt to bring extra. This is a rustic experience- we bought he cabin from a couple who had to sell in the midst of many unfinished projects. While we have finished most things, please bear in mind it is a cabin and that gives us permission to leave some things slightly imperfect.
The location was amazing and Angela's instruction were perfect. the recommendations also did not disappoint! one of the best getaways we have had and will be back!!
We spent Christmas at the Mesa and it was spectacular. The views from the cabin are amazing! The host thought of everything, there are activities for the kids (and adults), games, and she even decorated for the holiday! Beds are comfy, and the kitchen was well stocked. The heard of horses came through only once during our 5 day stay and they were a site to behold. If you're a morning person, be sure to catch the sunrise from the deck, its amazing!
This cabin and location is so beautiful and peaceful. The perfect getaway from big city life! The pictures really don’t do it justice. The sunrise’s, sunsets and stars are an experience all it’s own! Angela had a fully stocked kitchen and games galore for family time. We enjoyed our stay in this warm home celebrating my 60th birthday with our kids and grandson and visiting our land purchased on the mesa. Thank you for a wonderful place!
This place was absolutely amazing. Just as the host described but so much better!! I have never stayed at an Airbnb where I felt more comfortable. Angela thought of everything. It is stocked and decorated to the hilt! It is rustic and fun and I feel so lucky to have been able to stay there. I could go on all day. Just love love LOVE!!
Angela's place is amazing. We followed her directions and had no trouble finding it, and were very comfortable throughout our time there. The house is very rustic and remote - as advertised - but the beds were soft, the kitchen super well appointed, and the surroundings unbeatable. We were greeted by a herd of wild horses on our first morning and enjoyed unbelievable sunsets every evening. We also loved putting the wind chimes and hummingbird feeders out and stargazing at night. A perfect spot for an off-the-grid weekend.
On the mesa, you will find dirt roads which can get quite muddy during a rainy season. We recommend 4WD in winter and spring.
Wild Horse Mesa (also known as San Pedro Mesa) covers about 75 square miles, a few miles south of San Luis, near New Mexico. According to the Spirit of the Wild Horse Foundation, the mesa area is home to 150 to 200 wild horses (mustangs), grouped in multiple small bands, roaming their separate grazing areas. They are descendants of horses used by Spanish explorers (conquistadors), brought to America in the 1500s. Other types of wildlife found around Wild Horse Mesa include mule deer, elk, pronghorn antelope, coyotes, small game, birds, eagles, black bears, mountain lions, and bighorn sheep. Sagebrush and rabbitbrush (chamisa) are common vegetation, along with Piñon pine and juniper.
On the east side of Wild Horse Mesa, Sanchez Reservoir is a state wildlife area with a 4-mile long, 2,000-acre lake that provides excellent fishing for northern pike, walleye, trout, yellow perch, and catfish. It is a home for waterfowl, including ducks, geese, loons, grebes, and shore birds, including passerines and swallows.
On the northwest side of the mesa, along Highway 159, Sanchez Stabilizing Reservoir is another fishing and recreation spot, about 4 miles southwest of San Luis. The reservoirs are owned by the Sanchez Ditch and Reservoir Company in Sanford.
