This charming Podhale village is situated in the Dunajec Valley, at the junction of the Orawsko-Nowotarska Valley and the Gliczarowski Foothills. The oldest part of the village, characterized by the highest density of buildings, is located on the right bank of the river. A local road runs through the very heart of Szaflary, coinciding with the old road leading to Biały Dunajec. In the place where the main street of Augustyna Suskiego connects with Kościelna Street on one side and Rola Galowa Street on the other side, there is a small market square built on the plan of an irregular rectangle. From the north, the square is dominated by the nineteenth-century church of St. Andrew the Apostle. In the southern part of the complex, a statue of the poet Augustyn Suski was erected
The tourist attractiveness of the village is increased by the proximity of four national parks - Gorczański, Pieniński, Babiogórski and Tatrzański. There are also several nature reserves nearby, including Bór na Czerwona and Skałka Rogoźnicka. The village is located in the Southern Lesser Poland Protected Landscape Area. In the immediate vicinity of the village there are also deposits of geothermal waters, exploited for both heating and recreational purposes. In the neighboring Bańska Niżna, the thermal pools "Górjacy Potok" and "Termy Szaflary" were created.

You can get around the area by car, bicycle or on foot. There is a bicycle path next to the houses.
